Course Notes

Welcome to the Antei Combat Center (ACC) Fundamentals Exam. The ACC has been a unique aspect of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood for years. Unlike other clubs where forums alone are used to tell a story through multiple characters, the ACC is about pitting two (or more) writers against each other in order to competitively tell the story of a conflict between their characters.

In Star Wars, nothing is more iconic than the lightsaber duels between characters like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, or Darth Maul and Qui-Gon Jinn. What draws us to these battles is not just the technical nature of combat--aggressive styles clashing against defensive styles and so on--but the story that is told between these combatants. Why are they fighting? Why is this particular bout meaningful? What is at stake for each? The ACC is your way of answering these questions as a writer.

Of course, it is also a chance to really hash it out with another member. Combat is at the heart of the ACC, but the stories that surround these conflicts are what truly engage and bring a reader into your world. This guide will help you understand the finer workings of the ACC, its rules, and the guidelines by which each member will be held.

Good luck.
