Ryan Hawkins is a Jedi, formerly a Sith, and Martial Artist. Ryan Hawkins is currently a member of House Odan-Urr.
Character History
Ryan is of a lean and athletic build, more reminiscent of a gymnast or martial artist than a weightlifter or body builder, honed through his daily training routine of hand-to-hand combat training. His dark blonde hair is often cut close and off the ears, just one aspect of his incredibly discipline-focused lifestyle. His dark blue eyes convey intelligence, and virtually any emotion Ryan feels at the time as he wears his heart on his sleeve. He often sports roguish smile. The only reason he can keep anything remotely resembling a straight face even in battle is due to the rigorous practice of solo martial arts and weapons forms, requiring deep concentration. Ryan's skin is often somewhat pale due to his preference for the indoors or deep, shade-filled forests.
This pallid appearance is somewhat exacerbated by Ryan's preference for dark, formal, attire, favoring long coats and vests along with dark suits. Besides white and black, Ryan favors purples, silvers, wines, and hunter green in his attire. In battle, Ryan still favors dark colors and formal attire, but with military practicalities in mind. Armor-wise, Ryan prefers light and mobile armor, often of Imperial design. Ryan is normally of a very cheerful and optimistic nature which is incongruous with the usual stereotype of a Dark Jedi. He is somewhat hyperactive and has a tendency to bounce a little bit when standing around doing nothing, occasionally throwing martial arts techniques at the air or shadowboxing.
He is very gregarious and outgoing, but often speaks in highly academic manner that makes him sound condescending or difficult to understand, using complex jargon from philosophy and other academic subjects, unintentionally obfuscating what he is trying to say to laymen. In debates, Ryan is more likely to point out logical fallacies or invalid structure than to use rhetorical persuasion and appeals to emotion, further reducing his charisma in the eyes of the average individual. In an actual fight Ryan favors careful, defensive/counterattack based fighting at long range, shooting in and shooting out quickly and attacking with quick strikes, using blocks to create openings rather than to merely absorb a blow. Ryan's preferred range, however, is kicking or grappling. Acknowledging his relatively average size (along the weakness of even most trained fighters when it comes to throws and groundfighting), in a situation where grappling is advisable Ryan will seek to take down his foe with a sweep or throw, assume a dominant position, and defeat him through a choke, lock, or hold. Otherwise he will throw powerful kicks to the legs, body, and head of the opponent to end the fight quickly.
Ryan's knuckles, forearms, and shins bear heavy scars and callousing from conditioning them for striking an opponent.
Ryan is currently in excellent health, but his impediments are largely emotional. He can be somewhat rash and impetuous. Also, when fighting Ryan can sometimes tend toward flashiness, and his desire to close the distance can often be checked by someone with a reach weapon or blaster. Ryan believes in a chivalrous code of honor when it comes to personal conduct, which can be binding in a combat, particularly with members of the opposite sex where he becomes more rakish and swashbuckling. Ryan also doesn't practice his Force techniques as often as he should, trying to avoid using them as a crutch and also fearing the physically corrupting influences of the Dark Side while he was still an Arconan which could render him twisted and weaker. When calling upon the Force, Ryan never draws upon the Dark Side anymore, acknowledging its power but once again desiring to avoid corruption symptoms. This greatly inhibits Ryan's Force capability compared to others of similar rank as his time spent in Arcona had him practicing Force techniques infrequently.
