Description
The Pathfinder Brigade (PFB) is a specialized contingent within the Arconan Armed Forces. Created by and operating under the direct control of House Galeres, it serves as the premier reconnaissance and vanguard unit at Clan Arcona's disposal. Pathfinders are tasked with traversing some of the most treacherous terrain in the Outer Rim Territories, acting as scouts and wardens in the far reaches of the Kessel Sector. The PFB's mission statement is to survey and chart courses through the hazardous terrain surrounding the Dajorra System—specifically the vast stretches of space rendered unstable due to the Akkadese Maelstrom and the Maw Cluster, a cluster of supermassive black holes. Following the events of the Transcendence War, the energies of the Ethereal Realm have resulted in further destabilization of spacetime in this region of the Kessel Sector, creating such destabilization in the surrounding Hyperspace Lanes, justifying the continued existence of this specialized branch of the Arconan military.
Pathfinders regularly make contact with unpredictable spacefaring lifeforms—some as large as cruisers and more intelligent than one might expect, and others that are wholly indifferent if not outright hostile to other living beings. Therefore, every Pathfinder is trained not only in astrogation and piloting maneuvers, but also in survival, combat, and xenoecology and xenobiology.
Founded by Bril Teg Erinos, the former Quaestor of House Galeres, whose unique expertise in the Living Force, investigation, and mysticism has redefined the unit’s doctrine. Under Starosta Erinos' command, The PFB grw from a small survey wing into a full-scale recon corps with a hybrid combat-science mission profile.
Unit Colors & Iconography
The primary colors of PFB personnel are as follows: Gray represents the uncharted unknown which pathfinders are tasked with familiarizing themselves with, orange is used in minimalistic highlights and trim to symbolize beacon lights and navigation; finally, silver is used for identifying rank and other special designations.
Insignia: A stylized star fractured into four compass points, centered within a partial spiral (symbolizing the Maw Cluster). The lower left "broken" arm represents the danger of losing one’s path. Often displayed as a shoulder patch or on helmet crests.
Armor Markings: Pathfinder operatives wear matte armor with minimal light-reflectivity. Squads often customize their gear with orbital patterns or mythic beasts encountered during missions.

The Tartan-class Patrol Cruiser is a 250-meter long Corvette designed as an anti-starfighter and anti-bomber patrol ship. Hyperdrive capable and equipped with powerful computers and targeting sensor arrays, as well as state-of-the-art engine systems, the Tartan-class Patrol Cruiser was capable of keeping up with starfighters with its high speed and maneuverability, as well as its heavy armor. Because of the tremendous power required for these systems and the engines, however, the shields were weak and often made these vessels targets for capital ships.

| Crusader-class Corvette

The Crusader-class Corvette is a 150-meter long Corvette designed to fulfill a multitude of different roles but serves primarily as an anti-starfighter and support craft. It carries an advanced point-defense weapon system also capable of shooting down enemy missiles or torpedos. Hyperdrive capable, this vessel has great speed and maneuverability, with average armor and shielding.

| Fang Fighter Squadron (x2)

The Fang Fighter Squadron is a support space element consisting of twelve Fang Fighters, along with trained pilots to fly them including a command element made up of a commander and an executive officer. It also includes a small team of mechanics and engineers to maintain and operate the starfighters. Squadrons can operate out of capital ships that have hangar space for them, or independently.
