Dusk is a modified YV-666 light freighter purchased by Sith Battlemaster Meleu Karthdo from a scrap auction on Daxam IV, during his travels around the Outer RIm. The vessel was chosen due to its high maneuverability and speed, whilst simultaneously being able to house prisoners, passengers, and a sizable amount of cargo. Post-purchase, Dusk underwent a large refitting, with a bespoke interior specifically catered to Meleu’s needs.

Vessel Information

Interior / Exterior Layout

The Dusk, like all YV-series has a long, rectangular hull painted all black, with a top view bridge that allows the pilot a 180 degree view ahead. Other than the forward ramp from the bridge to the mid ship of the vessel, this is where the similarities between other YV-666s and Dusk end.

On arrival to the vessel, a forward ramp opened allowing pilot, crew and guests alike to board the ship on the lower deck. On entry, a reinforced sliding door stood out, with a ramp up to the main deck flanking it to the starboard side. Access through the sliding door was solely for Meleu Karthdo, with extremely rare exceptions. An advanced medical suite operated by a 2-1B Surgical droid came first, followed by a long corridor with two rooms either side, two holding cells, an armory, and a speeder bike hatch. At the end of the corridor was access to the engine room, where the engines, power core and weapons systems were housed.

Moving from the lower to the main deck, the interior looked luxurious and elegant, welcoming to any senior figures in the Brotherhood. An open plan dining room and lounge area appeared first, allowing four guests to dine and relax onboard, with a BD-3000 luxury servant droid to provide quality food and beverage service. Two small, but very well designed guest cabins lay aft this area. With a bunk bed in each and an ensuite bathroom, these cabins allowed up to four passengers to join Meleu on longer journeys. To assure his guest’s privacy and security, each cabin was fitted with pass-coded locks. The kitchen and pantry area sat further aft of these cabins, and due to it only being used by the ship’s droids, meant it was very ill equipped for human use.

On the bridge deck there is a comfortable command area allowing a pilot and co-pilot to simultaneously pilot the ship and also its weapon systems, which included a Anti-Pursuit laser turret, a missile launcher, and a quad laser cannon. Each of these turret hard points are retractable, allowing for less risk of damage or sabotage when not in use. Meleu’s personal quarters lay behind the command deck, fairly small and quaint as Meleu cared not for the luxury on which he bestowed his guests. Most of the extra space on the bridge deck during the refit was put aside for a larger cargo bay, as usually smaller cargo bays were dotted around the vessel. Due to the number of amenities required of Meleu on the other decks, the storage was limited to the bridge deck cargo bay. Inside this larger cargo bay were smaller, hidden compartments that were used to smuggle stolen and high value goods.

Role

The Dusk is used primarily as Meleu’s personal headquarters. Ever the nomad, the ship is capable and comfortable enough for Meleu to not leave for months on end. Numerous service droids, a medical bay and cosy quarters, the Taldyranite is happy to call the Dusk home.

In the past whilst on his Brotherhood duties, Meleu would have to interrogate targets on the spot, use third-party services for prisoner transport, or wait for his Clan to come to his aid due to only having a starfighter. As a consequence, a large investment was needed. These previous problems now no longer exist for the Sith. He is capable of running his shady operations on his own. Aside from smuggling goods or prisoners, the ship is capable of seeming somewhat of a luxurious ride for any of Meleu’s acquaintances.

History

Little of the Dusk’s history is known. From a guess, you could say that the ship was built between 16 BBY and 19 BBY. Historically used by Trandoshan slavers, the vessel was likely to have been either impounded, sold or stolen several times over the years, before Meleu purchased it in a scrap auction in 41 ABY.
