Chloe is a young Force sensitive woman who is also extremely mentally unbalanced.

Character History

Early Life

Very little is known about Chloe’s life. Even she is not certain about everything, though she is certain that she was born on Ukio. Targeted as Force sensitive, she was taken by some Jedi at a very young age after her parents died during Grand Admiral Thrawn’s occupation of the planet. Chloe does not remember who the Jedi were, but she’s quite certain it wasn't Skywalker’s group. Regardless, Chloe showed impressive mental abilities and they seemed to be the natural focus of her Force abilities.

Chloe's last known image of the attackers

When she was six years old, her group of Jedi was attacked by the Disciples of Ragnos. The terrified little girl lashed out at two of the New Reborn, destroying their minds to the point where they were completely brain dead. However, the surge of Dark Side energy flooded the young child’s mind, essentially causing her mind to fracture. Though still herself, individual characters, or character traits, began to fight for dominance in her mind. Her master managed to place mental blocks to help hold the mind together. Unfortunately, the blocks were not perfect and they slowly began to deteriorate, and Chloe became prone to fits of madness.

The Fractured Mind

Despite her mental troubles, Chloe’s master believed she could be trusted on missions, so long as he was there. Unfortunately, her first mission would be her last. While searching for a Force artifact, the small group of Jedi encountered a force of Dark Jedi from House Qel-Droma of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood; among them was Anshar. Chloe herself was captured and was taken back to Brotherhood space. Meanwhile, one of her own party members turned to the Dark Side and slew Chloe’s master after they managed to escape the Dark Jedi. Whatever mental blocks still existed collapsed. Chloe’s full madness took over. Wiping the minds of three journeymen, Chloe escaped, and slipped out into the public. She took a single, dull butter knife with her, and proceeded to kill seventeen civilians, including four children, and eight police officers. Finally, Anshar caught up to her and she collapsed in front of him, crying profusely, and claiming that she had been aiming for her own wrists the whole time, but that people just kept getting in the way.

Aftermath

After she was restrained, Chloe was spirited away to a special prison. It was determined by Anshar and a few others that she was far too unique to eliminate, but far too dangerous to remain in a normal prison or hospital. As events unfolded in the Brotherhood, she was mostly forgotten, except by Anshar. Since then, he has served as the girl’s guardian; upon becoming Quaestor of Gladius, he used his influence to transfer the girl to Tarentum's control. Because of progress made, she now serves as Anshar’s servant at his private estate.

State of the Mind

Powers

Chloe has long shown a propensity to absorb the emotional energy of others, often without conscious thought. There is no telling how powerful the girl could be, nor is it entirely understood if she wipes a person's mind, or absorbs it outright. It has been theorized that, in her current state, Chloe could destroy the mind of a Grandmaster. For obvious reasons, no one has attempted to test this.

Personality

For several years, Chloe did not have a set personality. Her mind was dominated by an unknown number of “guests” within her mind. Whether each "guest" is a part of Chloe's own subconscious or aspects of the New Reborns she mind wiped is unknown. It may even be some of both; Anshar has identified a total of fourteen "guests" to date. Within the past two years, with continued treatment and therapy, her personality seems to have stabilized. What appears to be the "true Chloe" is dutiful and timid, scared of herself and the "guests" in her mind.

Treatment

Though studying her fractured mind could produce beneficial results, there are numerous inherent dangers in keeping her alive. Several safety measures are in place. Chloe is under constant surveillance with cameras and motion sensors. In her quarters, she is tended to by droids while anti-psychotic medicines, though they do very little, are administered daily. She also wears a powerful neural head band at all times, though this only keeps her powers from getting out. It does nothing to stop the “guests” from fighting for dominance, or from changing Chloe’s personality. Early on, ysalamiri were placed in or near her apartment (having the same general affect as the neural band), but they would ultimately be killed by Chloe.

Progress

In recent times, Chloe has shown some progress. While the other personalities are present, and they do talk to her, they apparently have ceased their efforts to take control, at least for the time being. Chloe still wears the neural band and refuses to even try to go without wearing it.

Miscellaneous Notes

  • OOC: The character was first seen in a Qel-Droma run-on, which unfortunately was lost. Anshar was a Dark Jedi Knight at the time. Since then, the character has remained out of site, living only in Anshar’s fictional background. She will appear more in the future
  • OOC: The character and her problem were created well before Firefly came out. Any resemblance to River Tam (or any other fictional, or real, psychotic girls) is purely coincidental.
