Vladet Xavier is a member of the Krath Order of the Dark Brotherhood.

Character History

Vladet Xavier was born in Kor Vella, Corellia in 10 BBY. His family has strong ties with the Imperial Military, with the vast majority of his relatives having served in some branch of the military. Over the years Vlad has served as a pilot in the Imperial Navy, a Command Staff member of the Emperor's Hammer, a Bounty Hunter, and he has finally begun his training as a Dark Jedi.

Early Life

10 BBY to 6 ABY

Vladet was born into an upper middle class family in Kor Vella, Corellia. His father, Captain Benedict Xavier was a distinguished Imperial Naval Pilot who flew numerous missions for the newly formed Galactic Empire. Benedict was one of the few TIE Bomber pilots who successfully flew more than ten combat missions without being killed - he was later one of the first test pilots for the Assault Gunboat. Vladet's mother was Lieutenant Natalie Xavier, a nurse in the Imperial Medical Corps. The two met when Benedict was on leave back home on Corellia and they have been together ever since.

There was little doubt what Vladet would be doing in his life, having been trained in the Imperial Military way of life from as long as he could walk. Having access to military flight simulators from age six, he quickly perfected his flying skills. The local Corellian Sector Police (CorSec) unit even allowed Vladet to fly one of their Z-95 Headhunters on occassions, with the unit Commander being very impressed with young Vladet's natural skills.

At the age of sixteen Vladet applied for admission to the Imperial Naval Academy on Prefsbelt IV. He was admitted without question due to his parents' background, although he would have to wait like everyone else to join at the legal age of eighteen. In an interesting turn of events, Emperor Palpatine was killed when the Rebel Alliance destroyed the second Death Star over Endor. The Imperial Academy, having already accepted Vladet's application, extended him a special offer to join two years early. Eager to strike back at the Rebellion, Vladet quickly accepted the offer.

Prefsbelt IV and the Outer Rim

6 ABY to 9 ABY

Vladet and other Cadets training at the Prefsbelt IV Naval Academy.

Vladet found life at the Imperial Naval Academy facinating and exciting. He had been training on military flight simulators for many years but Vlad also found he had a passion for political debate as well. Most Cadets at the Prefsbelt IV Naval Academy only spent six months training to get Flight Certified and then were transferred to a squadron aboard a Star Destroyer. Vladet was fortunate enough to get accepted to the two year program where he not only earned his pilot certificate, but also a university degree in Imperial Politics and Government. Given his education and credentials, he was eligible to serve as an officer aboard a Star Destroyer, but first he craved being a starfighter pilot. After graduation he was assigned to the Nebulan B Frigate Fury, an Imperial Special Operations vessel.

The Fury's assignment was to patrol the Outer Rim territories to infiltrate pirate groups as well as keep the newly formed New Republic from establing contacts and bases within the sector. Vladet was given command of one squadron of modified T-Wings aboard the Fury and the Imperial Navy rank of Lieutenant. The two squadrons of T-Wings were relatively sucessful in their mission breaking up numerous pirate gangs and engaging New Republic recon forces. For two years they engaged in this mission until new orders were issued by Intelligence Director Ysanne Isard. Coruscant had fallen to the New Republic and the Fury was ordered to regroup with the main Imperial fleet which was en route to Thyferra.

On the way back to rejoin the fleet, the Fury was pulled out of hyperspace by an Alliance modified Strike Cruiser. A New Republic task force consisting of a Mon Calamari MC90 Cruiser, several Corellian Corvettes, and the modified Strike Cruiser were patrolling along the New Republic border when the Fury dropped out right next to them. A turbolaser slugfest took place with the Fury barely escaping back into hyperspace after the Imperials concentrated their fire on the modified Strike Cruiser and disabled it.

For the next few days the Fury idled in a remote system as technicians repaired as much as they could. Just before they could finish the repairs the quartet of Corellian Corvettes had discovered them and the end result was both sides destroying one another. Only Vladet and three of his wingmates had survived the battle. Not wanting to rejoin the main Imperial Fleet under the control of Ysanne Isard, they decided to lay low for a while and see what happened after the fall of Coruscant.

The four pilots eventually found their way to the planet of Ession where they joined the planatary government defense corps. While not the most respectable or best paying job, it kept them fed and supplied with information about galactic military events. Eventually Rogue Squadron was able to liberate the planet of Thyferra which Director Isard had taken over and the Imperial Fleet was left without a leader.

Vladet's stint with the Ession Home Defense Force was fairly boring as the planet only had to deal with smugglers and a few bounty hunters. All of that changed when the New Republic's Wraith Squadron launched a surprise attack on Admiral Apwar Trigit's flagship, the Imperial Star Destroyer Implacable. Since Ession was allied with Imperial Warlord Zsinj, the planetary defense fighters were scrambled to assist Trigit. Trigit's and the planet's forces were overwhelmed as New Republic reinforcements arrived and completely changed the battle. Vlad's three friends from the Fury were killed in the attack while Vlad himself had to withdraw from the battle due to his TIE Interceptor suffering major damage.

Two weeks later while on leave, Vladet recieved an anonymous holonet message bearing the highest Imperial Military access codes. The message ordered him to report to an unknown system near Sluis Van. With his best friends dead and his career in a standstill, Vlad took a chance and left Ession.

The Legacy of Grand Admiral Thrawn

9 ABY to 11 ABY

When Vladet arrived at the unknown system in a rented Lambda-class Shuttle, there was an Imperial Star Destroyer waiting for him. The Identity Friend/Foe (IFF) system of the shuttle tagged the Star Destroyer as the Chimaera. When he landed onboard the Star Destroyer, he was escorted to the bridge where he met with Captain Gilad Pellaeon. Their conversation was short as he was asked to proceed to the living quarters located behind the actual command deck. It was here he met with Grand Admiral Thrawn, official commander of the Imperial Military as elected by the Council of Moffs.

Vlad and Thrawn talked for an hour, with Thrawn wanting very specific details of Vlad's career since he left the Academy on Prefsbelt IV. Thrawn was impressed with Vladet's record and acomplishments, although he was concerned about Vladet's lack of loyalty to the military when Ysanne Isard was in command. Nevertheless, Thrawn promoted him to the Naval rank of Captain and gave him command of the 218th TIE Interceptor "Talon" Squadron, which was stationed aboard the Interdictor Cruiser Stellar Web. Vladet never met face to face with the Chiss Grand Admiral again, although the captain of the Stellar Web communicated to him that Thrawn was impressed with Vladet's efforts after a string of several successful battles with New Republic forces.

Just when the Imperial Military looked ready to defeat the New Republic, Thrawn's personal bodyguard assassinated the Chiss Grand Admiral during the Battle of Bilbringi. While Captain Pellaeon was a very competent officer in Vlad's eyes, he just was not Thrawn. The Imperial Military started suffering loss after loss and was forced to retreat further and further away from the Core systems. Vladet continued to serve under Pellaeon's command, growing more and more dissapointed with the Imperial military but not knowing what else to do with himself.

The New Republic Era

11 ABY to 20 ABY

Over the next nine years Vladet flew for the Imperial Navy in a variety of different roles. Following the death of Grand Admiral Thrawn and the retreat of the Imperial fleet from the Core, Vladet participated in many small skirmishes between New Republic and Imperial forces. As the Imperial remnant fleed further from Coruscant, the number of battles decreased significantly. The Stellar Web saw more combat than any other Interdictor Cruiser in the fleet as it was often paired with Pellaeon's Chimaera in trapping mission of New Republic recon forces. During one battle the Stellar Web suffered major damage from a barrage of proton torpedoes. The Cruiser was sent to a repairyard and Vladet's squadron was transferred to the Imperial Star Destroyer Judicator.

Two months after Vlad's transfer, the Stellar Web was stolen out of dry dock by Imperial Warlord Teren Rogriss. Not having the resources or time to deal with Rogriss, the Imperial Fleet continued in vain against the New Republic Armed Forces. Pellaeon's command of the Imperial Military was replaced by the Reborn Emperor until Luke Skywalker managed to kill off the cloned Dark Jedi.

Vladet's highest rank in the Imperial Navy was Lieutenant Commander. He earned the rank shortly before his promotion to Wing Commander of the ISD Inexorable.Command of the military changed hands several times over the next few years as Vladet was eventually promoted by Admiral Gilad Pellaeon to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Pellaeon, as Supreme Commander of the Imperial Military, had ordered the complete withdrawl of Imperial forces from the Core Worlds which led to the Galactic Empire becoming the Imperial Remnant. Shortly after Vladet's promotion to Lt. Commander, he was promoted yet again, this time to the position of Wing Commander aboard the Imperial Star Destroyer Inexorable. He served in this capacity for two years, training pilots and keeping the Remnant safe from New Republic atttacks.

Vladet eventually became a senior trainer for the Remnant's TIE Defender program. The Defender had been in production for years but never on a large scale. Vladet felt if the Remnant were to produce the Defender in large quanities they could easily overwhelm the New Republic's defenses and re-establish the Imperial Order.. However, the New Republic's constant growth dried up resources for the Remnant and only a handful of squadrons were ever commissioned. Vladet spent two years in the Remnant's TIE Defender program and was eventually transferred to the Remnant's main training Academy where he kept busy as an instructor for several more years. Training new pilots was a noble task for Vladet, but he missed combat against the New Republic. When the Empire signed the Pellaeon-Gavrisom Treaty, the war with the New Republic was officially over. The budget for the Imperial Military, especially in areas of recruitment, dried up and Vladet's frustration led to his resignation.

Several Imperial Warlords were always looking for experienced officers and soliders, but Vladet did not find any he thought could acomplish their goals of overthrowing the New Republic. Several months later he ran into a handful of Imperial pilots in a bar on the planet of Stornial. They belonged to the Emperor's Hammer TIE Corps, based off of Aurora Prime in the Outer Rim. Vlad had heard offhand that they had possessed a Sovereign-class Star Destroyer and with their growing numbers and constant engagements with New Republic forces, he figured they were worth joining. He accompanied the pilots back to Aurora Prime where he officially joined the Emperor's Hammer.

The Emperor's Hammer

20 ABY to 24 ABY

Even though he had to take a rank demotion from Major to Lieutenant, Vladet was reasonably happy with his conditions. He served in the Emperor's Hammer for over three years holding a wide variety of positions. He was first assigned to Wing XIII's Valkyrie Squadron, stationed aboard the Imperial Star Destroyer Grey Wolf. As a Flight Member there quickly proved himself by piloting an Assault Gunboat in many combat missions, keeping the New Republic out of Emperor's Hammer space. Vladet was promoted up to the position of Flight Leader in Odin Squadron in Wing XIII before being given command of Crusader Squadron. He served as Crusader Squadron Commander for well over a year and got promoted to the EH Naval rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After stepping down as Squadron Commander, he served a brief stint in the elite Avenger Squadron before recieving a huge promotion to the Emperor's Hammer Command Staff.

Vlad's highest rank in the Emperor's Hammer was Fleet Admiral, which he earned while serving as Security Officer for nine months.Vladet was promoted to the position of fleet Security Officer (CS-9) and the rank of Rear Admiral. He served as the Security Officer for over nine months during which time he introduced many new reforms into the fleet such as creating the new position of Judge Advocate General (JAG) and updating the EH Codes of Conduct, among other things. Near the end of his tenure as Security Officer, Vlad was promoted up to the prestigous Emperor's Hammer rank of Fleet Admiral although it didn't mean much to him. In his high position he noticed the Emperor's Hammer was falling apart. The final straw was when his close friend and mentor Sector Admiral Khameir Sarin was dismissed as the fleet's Executive Officer. Vladet resigned his position shortly after and returned to the line ranks as a Colonel, trying to re-discover the thrill of combat. After a brief command hiatus he was chosen to become the next Wing XIII Commander aboard his old ship the ISD Grey Wolf. His command did not last long.

He recieved a holonet transmission from another old friend, Khadgar, who was starting up a new Imperial remnant on the planet of Archoron. With the Emperor's Hammer disgusting him more each day, Vladet lended his expertise and some personal resources to help the new Imperial Dominion start up. While he knew Grand Admiral Astatine was driving the EH into nothing, Vlad was loyal to the Grey Wolf in which he had served on for all of his EH career (with the exception of his stint as Security Officer, although he visted the Grey Wolf frequently) and was eager to bring the ship back to its former glory. He decided he could still serve "The Home of Legends" while lending support to his friends and their new Imperial organization.

The Imperial Dominion's infastructure was about halfway complete when news of the new Imperial group reached the ears of Grand Admiral Astatine. The Imperial officers involved in the setup of the Dominion knew they could face expulsion from the Emperor's Hammer for this, given Astatine's unbalanced behavior, but Vladet still carried on with his new Wing Commander responsibilities. The night before he could give an opening address to his Wing, Vladet was in the officer's bar and lounge of the Grey Wolf with his good friend Joey C, who happened to be the newly elected Commodore of the Star Destroyer. After several rounds Vlad recieved an urgent message from some of his contacts around the fleet. During his tenure as Security Officer, Vladet had built up a very large information network inside and outside of the fleet. His contact within the Command Staff office aboard the SSSD Sovereign had alerted him that Astatine had just issued an order to the Intelligence Division and Internal Security Bureau to remove all fleet access for about a dozen individuals all connected with the new Imperial Dominion. Joey and Vlad knew their time was over in the Emperor's Hammer and immediatly started following their emergency contingency plans to escape EH territory. After a farewell shot at the bar they immediatly gathered their personal belongings and fled the Aurora system in their personal transports. One hour later, EH internal security moved in on the ship and created a lockdown. The Grey Wolf and many other ships around the fleet would not recover from this mass expulsion and were decomissioned shortly after.

Arriving in the Archoron system, Vladet felt he needed a new pace of life. He became Brigade Commander of the 1st Archoron Royal Legion Brigade, holding the position of General. After several months he worked his way up to the rank of Field Marshal and led several successful missions against nearby enemy forces (New Republic and Imperial Warlords alike). The New Republic, however, quickly took notice of this new Imperial remnant and moved in to squash it before it could grow to be a threat. The Dominion had not been fully setup yet internally and there were defense vulnerabilities as well as staffing difficulties. Vladet had just returned from a special operations mission when alarm klaxons went off at the Army Headquarters building. A massive New Republic assault force had entered the system and was pulverizing the the outer defense platforms. All fighters and capital ships were sent to meet the New Republic forces but they never stood a chance. The Imperial Dominion was literally destroyed with only a few dozen individuals surviving the battle. Vlad had strapped himself into his personal Assault Transport in order to give the Dominion capital ships some support but it had not been enough to turn the battle. After destroying two Corellian Corvettes and a Mon Calamari MC80 Cruiser with his heavy rocket load, several New Republic fighters took notice of him and chased him away from the battle. He was forced to enter hyperspace before they could destroy him or take him prisoner.

Shadow Hunting and the Call

24 ABY to Present

After Vladet escaped from Archoron he only had one other place to go that he had friends; The Lyarna System, home of the reformed Bounty Hunter's Guild. With nothing else to live by, he became a bounty hunter. It was an odd change of events but he found it exciting at first. He worked as bounty hunter for over a year, first serving in Skylla Kabal and later, when the Bounty Hunter's Guild underwent a needed reformation, he was the first line member of the newly formed Daedalus Kabal. Vladet's first bounty was a target within the Emperor's Hammer which turned out to be a successful hunt for the new bounty hunter.

After a year of bounty hunting Vladet earned the BHG rank of Journeyman. Life in the Bounty Hunter's Guild began to slow for him and he was wondering what to do next in his life when he ran into his old friend Khamier Sarin, now known as Dark Jedi Master Aristan Dantes, the Deputy Grand Master of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. Dantes offered to refine his dormant Force powers which he had established briefly in the EH's Brotherhood of Dark Jedi. With nothing else to lose and eager to expand his meager Force Sensitive status, Vladet started the next chapter of his life with the Brotherhood.

Possessions and Miscellaneous

Personal Starship

Template:Individual ship infobox Vladet has always needed transportation of his own during his lengthy and ever changing career, although his personal mode of transportation has only been around for four years. Since personal starships were forbidden in the Imperial Navy, Vladet had to rely on the Imperial Transportation branch during his long time in the service. After resigning his commission, Vladet needed a craft that had enough cargo capacity, yet had enough weaponry to take on small capital ships in a pinch. He purchased the hull of a military Gamma-class ATR-6 Assault Transport at an Imperial Supply Depot at the fringes of Remnant space that sold outdated military equipment to civilians. Although illegal to purchase, it only took a small bribe to obtain the hull of his ship. Money bestowed to him from his parents as well as his savings gave him enough credits to heavily arm and modify the transport, which he called the Fury, after the first Imperial vessel he was stationed on, which was destroyed.

Over the years Vladet has spent a considerable number of credits on his beloved transport, especially during the years when he was in the Emperor's Hammer earning an Admirality salary as Security Officer. It is also the ship he used to escape from the siege of Archoron and used to track down bounties when he joined the Bounty Hunter's Guild. The Fury eventually brought him to Antei, where he is currently training as a Dark Jedi.

The Fury differs from a standard Assault Transport in several ways. While normally flown with a crew of six - two pilots and four gunners - the Fury can be piloted by one person. The pilot flies the transport and controls the forward laser and ion cannons (two each) along with the forward pair of warhead launchers, which are always stocked with heavy rockets. A stripped down Astromech droid controls the other weapons and assists with piloting, among other functions. The Fury also boasts five dual heavy laser turrets instead of the standard four and has a single light laser turret mounted on top of the transport - it is mounted directly behind the fin on top of the transport near the engines. This allows the Assault Transport to defend its engines and rear arc, a weakness of the standard assault transport. The Fury can employ the use of gunners when they are available, which significantly increases its combat ability as computers cannot replace humans in this regard, no matter how sophisticated they may be. While normal Assault Tranports have a troop capacity of forty, the Fury's capacity is only ten plus cargo space. The rest of the ship's interior space is taken up by heavy capacity shield generators, larger warhead magazines, a vastly improved power supply, and custom tranport engines which costed many times more than the original hull of the ship. As a result the Fury is actually slightly faster than normal assault transports and has enough shield power to protect itself from multiple volleys of turbolaser fire.
