U.S. Army award ribbons

Growing up in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, he joined the United States Army in 2005 as an intelligence analyst, and served with units of the 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade out of Fort Bliss, Texas. He deployed to the Middle East as part of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in 2008, and was honorably discharged in 2009.

Hobbies

BSG "jock smock"

Regular games played include Halo: Reach, EVE Online, City of Heroes, Star Trek Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic. Lavar also does sci-fi costuming, including but not limited to Star Wars as part of the Rebel Legion. He has done costumes from the Stargate series, Battlestar Galactica, and Star Trek, and is currently building a replica of a proton pack from Ghostbusters.

Lavar also runs an EVE Online blog, "Inanity and Doom," which covers topics that intrigue him, as opposed to a single type of play.
