I haven't been rude to anyone. But removing any information from member pages is actually rather rude, and also inexcusable. As I stated before, if someone has an issue, then they should get in direct contact with the member and discuss it. The manner in which things are being handled with relation to this Wiki is something that the Grand Master himself is taking into consideration. FYI, we're all important people. :P --SBL Salth Khan 18:07, 26 February 2007 (CST)

I'm sure Sarin does care about the wiki, but telling the wiki staff that they're not allowed to follow the Wiki Guidlines, under threat, and mocking their recommendations, I would consider to be rude. But maybe that's just me. --Vladek

No, this is all part of the fictional universe known as Star Wars. Fortunately for the majority of the DJB the Grand Master isn't of such a narrow and singular vision of the DJB. There is little point to having a Wiki if people aren't going to be allowed to help bridge the gap between the DJB and the rest of the SW realm. The Grand Master appears to be in agreement, since at least 50% of the DJB utilizes both characters and other aspects of the SW and EU universes. Such narrow visions of the DJB have no place within the DJB. My character fits within the DJB and the SW universe. No further changes are needed. --SBL Salth Khan 18:12, 26 February 2007 (CST)

I'll just point out I never mentioned anything about your history...just your powers, which the DB has defined already. Haven't touched anything anyways, but I'm just pointing out the parts where you talk about how powerful you are and what not. That's it. --Halcyon 18:00, 26 February 2007 (MST)
*If I've followed this discussion right I gather the sentence in question is "His unusual power to draw the life essence from other living beings was a rare abnormality of one's mastered control over the power of Force Draining, but to a far lesser extreme since this power was only beginning to manifest itself." I was tempted at first give a long winded essay about the Rites of Power outlined in the Codex, blah, blah, blah, but... there isn't actually a lot of point, as I think the DC will be releasing the revised Force powers in the next month or two, so it's probably not worth the nitpicking currently. It is important for everyone to appreciate why we have restrictions on Force powers, else we'd see Acolytes running around saying they can shoot Force lightning and conjure Force storms. Putting on my ubergeek hat though, the Force draining thing actually doesn't seem quite that bad. If I'm reading the sentence correctly, "...was a rare abnormality of one's mastered control over the power of Force Draining, but to a far lesser extreme since this power was only beginning to manifest itself." that actually is saying "it is Force Draining, but not mastered" (from the "only beginning to manifest itself" part). With that in mind (the fact it isn't mastered) I don't actually think it really matters, it's comparable to saying, for example, a DJK gets really angry and fires off a single bolt of lightning and fries his own hand in the process, sure, he might have done it, but he can't control or intentionally conjure it, so it wouldn't be the same thing as him saying "I can use Force lightning! Hahaha!". In that respect, assuming I'm interpreting the sentence right in saying it is only talking about a non-mastered form of the power, then it's probably alright as it is.

I suppose the wording is perhaps a bit ambiguous though, so maybe it would be better changed to something like: "His unusual power to draw the life essence from other living beings was a rare abnormality of one's mastered control over the power to drain the Force from one's surroundings, but to a far lesser extreme since this power was only beginning to manifest itself." I think that sentence works better in two ways, it doesn't explicitly mention the power Force Drain, so can't be interpreted as someone going "I have a power I shouldn't have!" plus it actually reads better. Fictionally speaking theres no such thing as a "Force power", you don't "Force grip" someone, you just use telekinesis to crush their windpipe, so something about "draining the Force" actually reads better than a direct noun like "Force Drain".

Anywho, if anything needs changing I'd actually say it's your date of birth, Salth, as the numbers don't add up. Your DOB says 15 BBY but the Clone Wars took place during 22-19 BBY so you weren't born when Quinlan Vos was meant to be training you... that part might need looking at. And you guys all need to learn to bullet your discussions, it makes reading them sooooooo much easier :P--Xanos 09:30, 28 February 2007 (MST)
**Yikes... I actually just noticed the dates on some of your chapter headings too... have a look at Timeline of galactic history and Dark Jedi Brotherhood Era if you need help matching the dates up. The important dates just to get things into perspective are:
32 BEFORE the Battle of Yavin: Phantom Menace
22 BBY: Attack of the Clones
19 BBY: Revenge of the Sith
0: A New Hope
3 AFTER the Battle of Yavin: The Empire Strikes back
4 ABY: Return of the Jedi
26 ABY: Present DB Year
I'm taking a wild guess with these numbers, but glancing over your history quickly and trying to tie the dates up, you were 9 when Quinlan met you, so assuming he met you during the Clone Wars, you would have been burn about 31 BBY, to meet him in 22 BBY, trained with him until 19 BBY or so (I'm not sure exactly when Vos joined the Confederacy, I'd need to look that up... I actually think he may have infiltrated them BEFORE the Clone Wars started but I'm not sure). You then mention drifting from place to place before you eventually end up in the DB, the DB was fictionally established in 11 ABY, so that'd mean joining the DB sometime after 11 ABY (not sure how long you've been in the DB though), so its just 26 ABY minus however many years you've been here (the list on Dark Jedi Brotherhood Era shows the real life years, so working that out should be easy). The whole Clone Wars thing does make you about 50-55+ though, not sure if you originally planned on being that old :P--Xanos 09:47, 28 February 2007 (MST)
A great deal of the info on this page seems to violate a lot of the DB's directives when it comes to character histories. The Force thing is minor to me, but things like interacting with canon SW characters (Vos) and claiming that Palpatine had the DB created is just... wrong. The wiki allows for a lot of creativity and uniqueness when designing your character, but there have to be some rules followed. Mixing with canon is bad because people can't do it properly. Making up facts about the DB is bad because well... that's just stupid. Giving yourself powers you haven't earned by rank is bad - that's just how the DB is, or else we'd all have GM-level abilities and everything would be retarded. You should really consider the example you set for younger members (read: APPs-DJK) because they'll imitate this stuff and butcher it horribly.
Also, as been said before, the preview button is your friend. --Shadow Taldrya 02:29, 7 February 2008 (MST)

Content

I've erased the links to your robes, warbanner, and lightsabers. Please read Guidelines before re-adding them.

Also, your involvement with an established Star Wars Expanded Universe character is questionable. I'm talking about Quinlan Vos. Which also leads us to your ability of "Force Draining." That is an Elder power, just with a different name: Feed on the Dark Side.

We need to fix these things. --Tron 12:08, 23 February 2007 (MST)

This entire Wiki was reviewed and approved by the Grand Master less than 24 hours after it was fully posted. Also, if the coding doesn't work properly, then it is not possible for people to follow the "Guidelines", especially since the guidelines also seem to ignore the proper usage of DJB authorized images as they relate to copyright usage. And as for my involvement with "an established Star Wars Expanded Universe character", it is minute and far less than other members have stated to establish themselves within the Star Wars universe. Since it in no way interferes with existing SW lore, no entries shall be modified. All removed images and links shall be replaced immediately by the staff member who removed them, or they shall face a formal complaint of abuse through the Grand Master.

You need to fix these things immediately. --SBL Salth Khan 13:18, 25 February 2007 (CST)

If there is a "problem" with this, it would the the powers you've given yourself. Basically it's god-moding since your powers are on par with like Dark Jedi Masters. That is the intent you're going for...it's your history, but you are only an Equite and a couple ranks from Elders. If you really want to fictionalize yourself properly, it's best to stay within the general boundaries of your actual rank--Halcyon 12:28, 25 February 2007 (MST)

The only "problem" is that your position lacks merit. For instance in the game KOTOR it is widely known that Bastila was only a Padawan, but had already mastered the power of Battle Meditation. According to the DJB policy on powers, only someone of Equite standing could possibly master that power, and yet a Jedi Padawan did it. There are many other instances throughout SW lore where Dark and Light Jedi alike, have mastered abilities that were beyond their expected abilities at the time. It's what has made them unique. There are many within the DJB itself that have done likewise. You can't change what already is, and this ability has been a part of my character persona for a very long time. I am willing to downplay the power some, but I will not remove it, no one has the right to make that demand. --SBL Salth Khan 14:02, 25 February 2007 (CST)

I'm not going to remove anything from your page or tell you too. But you might want to calm down. You've been kinda rude, to kinda important people. Thanks, --Vladek

As stated, this is the DB, not KOTOR. We have our own "system" in place, and your powers are related to your specific rank in this club. Anything else doesn't "matter" in the context of the DB. Want more powers, get promoted...that's how it works here. You'd have to make your character fit within the general confines of the DB, not the other way around.--Halcyon 00:34, 26 February 2007 (MST)
