History

The unsteady months that led up to Keirdagh Taldrya Cantor’s appointment as Sith High Warrior of the Dark Brotherhood had pointed out one glaring weakness in the Sith Order. Traditionally seen as Pilots, and nothing more, Keirdagh had noted the number of increasing incidents where his Sith Brothers were being required to dismount from their fighters and fight hand to hand. Given that pilots would generally need to be in their space-rated flight suits, this either meant that the Dark Jedi would then be forced to vault into combat without the added protection of Armor, or be forced to take time to don their protective gear before joining the fight. Always of a mind to give the Sith Order more of an edge, Keirdagh began looking for ways to correct this tactical flaw.

So it was that in 18ABY, Keirdagh sought out a master armorer from the Palandrix Personal Protection Gear Company with the intention to create a light armor and flight suit amalgam. Using inspiration from the the Imperial Department of Military Research's Royal Guard Combat Armor designs, and noting the need to minimize overall size, Palandrix combined the key features of a flight suit, including the ability to project an emergency magnetic containment field for situations where the pilot is forced to go extra-vehicular and an increased combat rating to allow Sith pilots added protection in hand to hand combat situations.

Characteristics

The majority of the Tactical Suit consisted of a normal matte black Flight suit made of durable fabric material, with reinforced Black Corellian Leather in other locations of heavy wear. Consisting of three major armored areas, Palandrix ensured that the pilots would maintain a full range of motion for combat and piloting, as well as enabling them to be able to fit into any cockpit they normally would be able to. Universal locking clips were added to the area around the neck to ensure good combat seals for craft which required helmets.

The Shoulder guards and Gauntlets were both fabricated from pressed and individually shaped Durasteel plates, maximum protection and mobility. Red Corellian Leather was then heat molded to the forms to hide the true nature and strength of the products. The diagnostic and control panel for the Suits Emergency MagCon field is located on the inner forearm area of one of the gauntlets.

The Chest piece is also largely made out of leather covered durasteel, though it is notably thicker and heavier in grade than on the shoulders/hands, with the exception of the upper back area of the piece, which is where the MagCon generator is embedded into the armor, weakening an otherwise extremely strong piece.

Basic Stats

  • MagCon Rated for 75 Minutes of Operation Time on Battery. As most species are rated at under 45 Minutes survival time while extra-vehicular, this was deemed as sufficient.
  • Designed to Self-Seal in Hard Vacuum.
  • Weight: 18 Kilograms

Availability

The Sith High Inertia Tac-Suit was designed by then Sith High Warrior Keirdagh Taldrya Cantor to be given to the Sith in order to grant them a much needed boost in their Hand to Hand combat survivability. Despite this, it was deemed too wasteful to give these highly expensive combat suits to any but the best and brightest Pilots within the Dark Brotherhood. Generally, unless the member’s skill was exceptional, members were not considered for receiving of the SHIT unless they had achieve the rank of Dark Jedi Knight.

A strict (see: Death) confidentiality and exclusivity clause was written into the contract with the Palandrix company on the commissioning of the S.H.I.T Suits, meaning no other clients except those representing the Dark Brotherhood would be able to order them.
