A collection of underwater domes situated on the border of two hugely active tectonic plates on the ocean world of Yridia II, Phoenix Crest is a mining colony granted to Welshman during a Clan feud against a nest of pirates which had taken residence in its life giving arcology, originally joint ownership was granted to Ylith and himself however the second owner has since left the Clan leaving Welshman as the sole proprietor.

Damaged as it was during the battle to regain it from the pirates it took Welshman many months to get it operating at even a bare minimum mostly due to restrictions in his funds to pay for the repairs, however as soon as some of the minerals and food began flowing from the complex funds could be divert back into the repair work allowing the finishing touches to be completed seemingly over night.
Introduction
The six main domes range from kilometre plassteel domes, almost large enough to hold a Imperial Star Destroyer to smaller outlying ones of half the diameter. Buried “settlements” of silos and worker barracks barely two hundred meters long finish the industrial complex. Whilst most of the work around the superheated fissure was done by droids a lot of the processing and maintenance were done by organic techs.

The main dome contains a large percentage of the overall processing faculties and shipment facilities. Situated in the main base is also the main command and control computers and comms antennae for the armada of mining droids that served the Tarenti’s whims. Scattered around the central dome are a four smaller hydroponic and storage depots where food is grown and shipped with the mined ore to the surface via aquatically adapted shuttles or via rail gun, firing porous ingots of ore filled with low density gas.

Introduction

A collection of underwater domes situated on the border of two hugely active tectonic plates on the ocean world of Yridia II, Phoenix Crest is a mining colony granted to Welshman during a Clan feud against a nest of pirates which had taken residence in its life giving arcology, originally joint ownership was granted to Ylith and himself, however the second owner has since left the Clan leaving Welshman as the sole proprietor.

Area

The fiefdom of Phoenix Crest encompasses an area of roughly 1500km2 with 98% of this area being underwater, a bracelet of sensors, occasional mining droid and the odd habitat module hugging the mineral and energy rich trench of the Phoenix Crest. The 1% of interests above sea level are placed on the scatterings of atolls and island chains which jut out of the tempestuous sea, and are the storage dumps and trading posts where materiel is taken for surface transport.

The Estate

Many land grants are turned into personal play grounds of their inhabitants, a method showing off and demonstrating material wealth. Welshman however decided upon a different path for his territory, already an impressive mining community when taken from the hold of Dranik the Corsair set about expanding this little venture. The initial complex of half a dozen domes ranging from Star Destroyer swallowing globes of plassteel to 200m long cubes have been expanded to encompass nearly three hundred more habitats, the largest having a radius of over a kilometre.

The initial site's domes are all interconnected by a series of sealed walkways and trams, facilitating movement of men and material to the processing sites for packing. Transport to the outlying domes must be undertaken via the fleet of submersibles available.

Industry

A mining conglomeration which supplies Tarentum, the Brotherhood and perhaps more importantly Welshman's bank balance with minerals and metals essential to heavy industry and ship building. The mining is mostly carried out by robotic craft, variants of the mole miners of old, and processed by the organic work force for shipment to surface depots. The larger domes have shuttle bays which allow the specially modified Tarenti shuttles access to the domes for urgent supply runs or meetings with the Warlord, whilst the smaller processing domes rely on magnetic accelerators to hurl the ingots to awaiting surface craft.

Output of the diaspora of facilities is not just limited to metals, indeed the depths of Yridia II's oceans contain a plethora of species suitable to the human palate, these myriad creatures are processed into protein and carbohydrate blocks much used by Tarenti armed forces as ration packs and to feed the workers who labour in the Tarentae's facility.

The geothermal vents which dot the fissure are themselves used to power the facility and colonies within the wider area resulting in some degree of self-sufficiency.

Industrial output of the facility as a whole is approximately 1.3MTons of neutronium (N.B. Not to be confused with material making up neutron stars) and 0.8 MTons of Carvanium along with 1MTon of pure processed protein/carbohydrate food packs of which the majority is earmarked for Tarentum and her allies.

Workers

Welshman attempts to source as much labour as possible from local Yridian communities in an attempt to alleviate local unemployment. This benevolence has seen the Baron's popularity amongst the locals rise to almost reverent status, somewhat helped by the dividends and bonuses paid annually to workers. The workers spend four weeks working down in the facility before being allowed back to their families for a week. Between the droid workforce and other automation the organic workforce is only around 1500, all mostly in tech-support, pilots or the grow houses.
