Kazinal was the name given by the Rakata to those trapped inside the spiritual prison at the heart of Urati Kazinal, the Temple of Lost Souls. In Basic the word roughly translated as Lost Souls, reflecting the hundreds of victims who had been ritually executed.

Thousands of years later when Lehon was rediscovered by Urias Orian, the Sith Lord saw the imprisoned souls as a means through which he could at long last obtain immortality. Orian returned to the Sepros system where he repeated the ancient Rakatas' depravity, trapping the souls of the Ombi race inside the Star of Ombus in much the same way.
