Character History
Born in a desolate region of a far away galaxy, Kalen is a descendant of a group of survivors from a ‘lost’ Republic squadron of Dreadnoughts. He grew up his entire life either on one of the ships or on a small, nearly barren colony his Jedi grandfather had helped establish. Roughly 49000 people were aboard the group of 5 Dreadnoughts that had been swept away and deposited there by a group of ornery migrating space whales.
In mid ABY 43 Kalen and the rest of the descendants luckily spotted a different group of space whales migrating back towards their ‘home’ galaxy. They scrambled onto their ships which had been seldom used for the last 10 years, and set course to make a rendezvous. After a rough trip home, during which Kalens ship has been the only one to survive, approx 9000 of the group survived and were deposited on the outer rim/wild space frontier. After being 'home' for a few weeks, the group took a poll and decided to sell their antique ship(netting each person 8500 credits) and go their seperate ways. Many went corewards to find long lost family, others found planets nearby and took work, still more signed onto colony ships in attempts to build new lives.
Kalen and the 1 other grandfathered Jedi from the group of survivors both headed for Arx after hearing that they may find other Jedi there. After a month on Arx, and getting low on credits, Kalen picked up and completed a few contracts and bounties from the infamous Dath Kossir. As it happened Dath was an associate of House Ventress, and after a random meeting at the spaceport on Aliso, Kalen joined the group himself. He is currently the only known Light side Jedi adherent who is a full member of Clan Plagueis. He serves as a gunboat flotilla leader part time in the Ventress military, and he also unknowingly serves as an asset for the ‘Unseen Eyes’, one of the house's shadowy paramilitary organizations.
Kalen, ever the busy body and optimist as stated also does independent contracting when not employed in other duties. After a few weeks on Aliso he and the local tailors daughter began dating. They currently live together in a prefab home on the outskirts of Aliso City. Since returning from the other galaxy, Kalen has not kept up with his Jedi training and traditions as much as he would like to. And a few matches in the ACC, swiftly showed him how outmatched he was in terms of the combat applications of the Force.
Early Life
Kalen was born early into the second generation of his community. After 8-10 years of being lost, they self organized and began to breed in a recognition that they may never make it home. Eventually when Kalen was 4 the group of 5 ships had found a somewhat habitable world, and began to build a hardscrabble colony. It wasn't luxurious, but the group of nearly 50000 began to set down roots.
Kalen was trained in the ways of the force and his earliest memories are of his grandfather teaching him to levitate objects. After his second day of training with a lightsaber, at the age of 6 his grandfather suddenly passed away. Kalen was given his grandfather's Jedi Armor, High Council Pendant and Jedi Robes as an inheritance that he maintains in his possession to this day.
He showed an attitude for starship piloting during his teenage years, as the small squadron still operated some of its vessels and shuttles frequently. They would scout for new worlds and were constantly on the lookout for some whales who might take them home. It was an existence filled with monotone and routine. But at the age of 19 he was a senior shuttle pilot and had been made a Jedi Knight by his father.
After many years of toiling on their dustbowl colony Kalen, now 28, was dispatched by the group's leader to take one of the Dreadnoughts and head to a local comet cloud and farm several thousand tons of water. It was during this ultimately successful mission that his younger sister tragically died in an accident on one of the comets. As he was increasingly given more and more responsibilities by the group's leader and his own father(who sat on the makeshift ruling council) Kalen never truly was able to mourn the loss of his sister.
By the age of 31 he was permanently assigned as the 'ready group' Captain. It was a team of officers and crew who maintained the 5 vessels(2 of which they kept in geosync orbit permanently, and 3 were maintained in a spaceworthy condition on the surface parked near their colony) for future use.
Jedi Upbringing and Training
The lost squadron had 2 Jedi aboard to start, Kalen's grandfather, and what would become his great aunt. The 2 quickly realized they may never get home, they hatched a plan to form an adhoc Jedi training program, and eventually their own 3 person High Council as each of them married force sensitive partners and each produced several children. The children were not forced to join the ‘Academy’ but a majority did. At its peak, Kalen's Padawan class consisted of 5 apprentices(4 going on to be named Knights), and the generation after him had 7 apprentices(3 becoming knights) at the time of their return trip. Sadly all the Jedi aside from Kalen and Syla Tyral, a rival and former love interest of his, were killed aboard the other 4 ships that did not survive the trip.
With a midichlorian count of roughly 11,500 per cell, he was below the standard threshold for consideration to be made a Jedi Master(12,500 being the bar set for Masters). But due to a derth of qualified candidates and the advancing age of his fathers generation, Kalen was named a Jedi Master by his father,62 aunt, 60 and second cousin, 59, and installed on their impromptu Jedi Council mere weeks before they had hitched a ride home.
Current Circumstances
He serves as a flotilla training officer part time in the Ventress military, on loan to the Ascendant Fleet, Aliso Security Force, based at the Pinnacle on Alisa. He also unknowingly serves as an asset for the ‘Unseen Eyes’, one of the house's shadowy paramilitary organizations. In his first month as a member of Clan Plagueis he has; Completed two bounties, ran a study on Uluv, helped defend a colony from bandit attacks, helped to lead a mission to eradicate a drug cartel base, aided in ensuring that Conner Trune recieves the inheritence he is entitled to, and nearly crashed his new modded out GX-1 short hauler into a Brotherhood social function at Lulaires farm on Kasiya, nearly killing the Brotherhood DGM and Aedile of House Ventress in the process.

Physical Description
Decently tall, with an angular face and pointed chin. He is not overly handsome but is not unpleasant to look at either. He has auburn hair, green eyes and a fit swimmers physique he had maintained during frequent trips to the ships onboard pool.
