- "Xan, you are one of the best doctors I know. Don't die, don't let the Jedi let you die."
- ― Tania
Xan" was a Captian in service to Clan Odan-Urr, and Battle Team Sargent of the Knights of Allusis.
Character History
Known by many as the Doctor, Xan never had an easy life. It wasn’t until he met Liam Torun in 38 ABY that he ever had any chance of fully overcoming the beast inside himself.
Early Life 23 ABY-26 ABY
Xan was born and abandoned on Naboo. He was found and raised by a Gungan spacer named Pulak, who took the Dashade in. Pulak dealt with the Dashade for a few years before settling on New Tython. He spent the majority of Xans first few years instructing the child on Wobow and Kranni, imprinting the ideas of the Gungan martial art Paonga on the young one. When Xan turned three Pulak decided to train the boy in the art, and was pleased to see the boy excell. He also prided Xan on using the ideals of the Martial Art to fend off the hunger that consumes his race.
Even so Xan’s early life had some troubles, including being jumped by a group of people who wanted to kill him for his race. Xan handled himself well, and Pulak fought them off, though was injured in the process. Xan carried the injured Gungan using strength beyond what he actually had, adrenaline pushing him. Xan brought Pulak to a doctor and was amazed at what medicine could do.
The Medic 26 ABY-38 ABY
After saving Pulak, Xan became interested in medicine and Pulak helped him get trained by the New Tythonian military. At the age of three Xan was one of the youngest, yet most studious of all his colleges. While it wasn’t until he was in his early teens that he was allowed out in the field, he covered many shifts as a diagnostician and emergency surgeon by the age of seven. By all accounts he was a medical prodigy, though no one ever understood why. Pulak continued to teach him in Paonga, and helped Xan overcome his hunger.
Then came the day that marked Xan as a real medic. In mid 34 ABY, he was training with Pulak when the two were attacked. Pulak was run through several times with blades, however Xan, losing control, fought off his attackers. He regained control of himself in time to save Pulak with the use of bacta. This marked him as a full medic, since he miraculously brought someone from the brink of near death to a stable condition.
The Combat Medic 38 ABY- 39 ABY
Xan gained notoriety among other combat medics, becoming called the Doctor. When he first became known it was shortly after he met the Jedi Liam Torun. Liam’s connection to the Force intrigued the medic, and the two became friends. Liam, without ever knowing it, helped Xan deal with the inner beast that haunted Xan from his earliest days. Being around a conduit of the Light side helped bring peace to the often tormented Dashade. Xan began to work better with fellow soldiers and medics, and eventually became known for more than his skill with medicine and weapons.
He became considered the pinnacle of what a field medic should be like, though Xan does not like this title.
Tania and Xan
Xan was raised almost entirely as a medic, making friends with a girl his age who wanted to be like him. When Xan began to been seen as a vital part of the K.U.D.F. , Tania had just gotten out of Medical school. The two spent the next year working together in clinics, though at times Xan was called away on missions. As one of Xan’s few actual friends, Xan holds her in high regard.
Physical Description
Appearance:
Xan stands above the regular Dashade, being a rival in height for the average Wookie. Being tall and bulky, his large frame helps him loom over most sentient beings in the Galaxy. Aside from his height, Xan appears like a regular Dashade, with dark grey skin, and a lamprey like mouth. His eyes are a burnt orange, almost like dying embers. His three fingered hands almost always holding something, be it his weapons, or medical tools.
Clothing:
Xan has taken to wearing different things depending on the situation.
When of New Tython he will often wear a set of customized armor provided for him buy the K.U.D.F. medical core. Built for his hulking frame, it is light, made from plasteel. It is a simple white, red and even gold colored, based on its design. The gold is only on the K.U.D.F. medical core symbols on each shoulder.
Xan can be seen wearing scrubs when ever he is nearing a medical shift at a clinic, or when he just gets off of one. These are simple, and he never has any weapons on him at these times.
Combat
While Xan is a medic first, and a Martial Artist second, he is not lacking when it comes to combat. In combat situations, Xan was taught to adapt based on the fight, and he does so quite frequently. While not the strongest or the fastest in any respect, Xan has built his fighting capabilities around his durability.
Weapons
Xan is skilled in many different forms of combat, and at different levels for each. In terms of blaster capabilities Xan has been trained with a number of blaster pistols, and has carried a number of them. Recently he has begun to carry a Syngery WLD-5 “Peacekeeper” with an iron trim. He is quite skilled in Paonga and basic unarmed combat, and as such, does not need a weapon to fight. He also has skill in Petranaki, and carries around a Pictador’s Spear and a Petranaki Scimitar.
Armed Combat
Xan is skilled with pistols, though hardly an expert. He often uses a blaster only when needed, not seeing the advantage of it when a punch of stab would work just as well. He can use every weapon in the Petranaki Array, but prefers to use the Pictador’s spear and the Petranaki saber. He knows that they don’t compare to a lightsaber, but that hasn’t stopped him from using them.
Unarmed Combat
To think that Xan replies on weapons is to make a mistake. Xan is quite capable unarmed, studying Paonga, and having rudimentary fisticuffs skills besides that. He is also quite skilled in disarming a foe while he has no weapon, further adding to his advantages against some Jedi. While he does not focus on some of the more destructive martial arts, he uses what he has learned to his advantage, allowing him to better deal with those who use more common styles.
