Is this being used for a specific purpose? We already have templates for the three orders and elders... why do we need another? --Shadow Taldrya 23:55, 25 April 2009 (MDT)
- Nevermind... it looks cooler than the others. --Shadow Taldrya 00:00, 26 April 2009 (MDT)
- And Slagar made this template work for all 3 of the Orders with just one template. That is a win in my book. Fewer templates to maintain in the long run. --Orv Dessrx 00:02, 26 April 2009 (MDT)
- Which will be a lot less confusing for future newbs too. However, a few things I think would make it look a bit better: bold the heading text (I like bold headings), lose the different colors to the fields, and maybe change "type" to "order" so it's even less confusing as to what it's asking for. Then maybe we can go about changing all the pages to this. Just a suggestion. --Shadow Taldrya 00:10, 26 April 2009 (MDT)
- The big thing on this one is that it's going to do all the character templates, including NPC's and Jedi, hence "type" instead of "order". I did add a note on the thing as to what options there are for "type", and then there's the list of type designations and their corresponding colors. Also, as a bonus I've got it set up so that for Sith, Krath, and Obelisk it will automatically categorize the page as in "DJB Characters". With Jedi and NPC it will automatically categorize them as NPC's. I did however make a tag not mentioned on the implemenetation section that only appears in the template called JediPC that allows the four non-NPC categorized Jedi to categorize as "DJB Characters". - 6430 14:28, 26 April 2009 (MDT)
Note
I approve this new template, but in the future please run it by me first. thanks --Tron 18:47, 26 April 2009 (MDT)
- Actually, the idea was to get it on the wiki for review so you could see what it was first, then approve, then implement. I'm not used to people running with new template stuff without needing to be stabbed repeatedly in the face first. Darn these motivated people... - Solus Gar 23:27, 26 April 2009 (MDT)
I like things that are pretty and new and on the wiki... can't help it :P --Shadow Taldrya 23:37, 26 April 2009 (MDT)
Elder
Is it possible to get an "Elder" option on this template as well? Previously there was a template for Elder's, and wondering if it could be brought back again. Thanks --Halcyon 17:44, 28 April 2009 (MDT)
- I think I got that one. "CustomElder" as the type, and "custom1"/"custom2" for the two colours --BenevolentWhiner 17:58, 28 April 2009 (MDT)
- Actually, the point was to eliminate the slew of different colored templates running around and standardize with this one. Hence why it wasn't added in in the first place. Also, the color designations are going to eventually be removed from the template itself and made part of the skin CSS, so variable stuff won't work like that. On another point, do only elders get to use this function? I don't particularly want to police it. And if so, I think that elders already get enough cushy special things, they can use the standardized template like everyone else. - Solus Gar 19:35, 28 April 2009 (MDT)
- That's generally the point of the club...the "higher" you go the more "rewards" that are offered. Otherwise, why keep going? Instead a "standardized" Elder version could be made, just as each Order has one. Elders are "above" Orders, so it also makes sense for them to have a template apart from each Order, if they so wish to choose it. But that'd be a choice for the T:W to make, one way or another --Halcyon 19:48, 28 April 2009 (MDT)
- I was actually looking at doing an elder type with gold or something standardized, or doing a border to add to elder stuff that would denote that fact (Was going to talk to Orv about the realities on the border thing since he was wanting to go CSS to control style). However, as far as custom colors are concerned, the only person using them at the moment was... you. Standardization doesn't mean giving each and every person every single thing they want, that's the opposite. On the "Above Orders" thing, you might want to tell everyone else that. Many of the people with the Elder template had their order colors listed, and many Elders were not even using said template and are instead using the order based ones. I should know, I changed most every one of them in the wiki to the new format today. I did double check the Codex as well when I was trying to determine what to do with Elders, and saw that it still lists Elders that aren't Grand Master under their orders and even color codes them. Not saying that's the way it should be, but that's the way all the material presents it. And finally, save going through and manually policing it, there's no way to ensure that only elders use this "reward". All the other rewards are managed by the various systems that give them out, with a wiki it doesn't work that way. - Solus Gar 20:44, 28 April 2009 (MDT)
