Garek Drendel is in fact not his actual name. He was born under the name of Lun Nexng. While much of his childhood is unknown to the authorities, after the age of twelve the man Lun began to slowly build a criminal record that would make many people look as if they were Saints.
It is believed by many that Lun was born to a wealthy family on Courscant, his parents where either successful in the military or Senate, if not both. As he has a complex understanding how both work, which he has used in how formed and runs his gang, the Shadow Hunters.
Garek Drendel came across Teu after she landed on Nar Shadda, upon meeting the young adult; Garek wanted this woman for himself as his bride. However fates would play a different card, which angered the older man, he now travels the galaxy looking for Teu. Most recently his travels have taken him to Tarthos.
Biography
Early Life
Garek Drendel was born as Lun Nexng, his parents were social elites which in turn gave him considerable standing at an early age. He was sent to the best academies in the Galaxy and was afforded luxuries few could have. His childhood was similar to the other high class children; he had his own security detail whenever he left his family compound. He had numerous threats against him by his parent’s enemies.
Shortly after Lun's twelfth birthday, he started to become rebellious against his parents. He would sneak out of the compound and meet up with a small group of friends. Soon these late night escapades would turn into late night shop lifting schemes or stealing speeders for joy rides. As the schemes grew in number so did the number of times he was arrested. Soon, his parents grew tired of the rebellious teen and gave him an ultimatum, either he straighten out or be sent to a military boarding school off planet.
Lun figured his parents were bluffing as they have always given such threats in the past, shortly after his fifteenth birthday he and his best friend and number one cohort in crime decided they would break into a local bank and steal the gold bars that were held in the vault. He and his friend failed at getting into the vault but both were arrested and charged with attempted robbery. His parents again covered up their son’s misdeed allowing him to go without jail time; however he was sent to the military boarding school as his parents promised.
Away from Home
After being sent to the academy by his parents Lun learned quickly that he would have to conform to the rigors that the school set or be washed out and loose the life of luxury. So he did as any teen did in an unwanted situation he rebelled more, he commonly ignored the rules set by the Senior Cadets in charge often ending up with demerits that would lead to punishment such as manual labor or physical means.
By his third semester in, his permanent record was longer than his criminal history. The academy board decided that they could not have such a rebellious teen on their hands; they expelled him from the academy and enlisted him in the military as a lowly solider instead of an officer. This displeased his parents; they no longer supported their son, cutting him off from the luxuries he had once afforded.
After his parents cut him off, Lun deserted from the military having no need to impress his parents to keeps the money flowing. It is at this point no more of Lun is heard from, at the age of eighteen it is believed that Garek Drendel alias was created. Also of note it is not known how Garek got to Nar Shadda and started the Shadow Hunters. For the next several years, his exact history is unknown only speculations exist.
Meeting Teu
A routine patrol of his domain by a group of gangsters turned up a surprising find, a teen girl homeless and alone appeared one day. Ordering his men to leave the teen alone, Garek visited the youngster on his own. Upon laying his eyes on her he knew that this woman would one day be his bride. One way or another, upon his revelation Garek decided to put her under his protection without her knowledge.
Under his protection no one was allowed to harm her unless they wished to face his wrath. However something about the female made him watch her carefully. Her reactions were almost instantaneous as if they were controlled by some outside force. He had heard about the Jedi and their mysterious powers. He offered Teu a chance to train her in the arts of street fighting.
During the training, Garek realized that Teu was truly in her own league. She was a natural in most hand to hand forms; her quick reflexes gave her an advantage most lacked. Quickly, Teu slowly gained the upper hand against every fighter there was in the gang except him. He never shared all that he knew, for that would give his enemies, upon which he had many, the ammo to end his life.
However, he was no surprised when Teu challenged him to a fight, naturally he accepted the fight, and the terms clear as he knew her intentions. She loose and she will marry him and remain on planet. She win and she can go anywhere in the galaxy, she chose to go.
Lost Love
The night of the fight came, both Teu and Garek went head to head in a no rules fight. It was clear who would win the fight from the beginning; Garek had the years of experience, Teu had the raw power and ability. Garek quickly set to showing the female her place. Garek was the victor, he had ordered Teu's wounds tended to and she to be locked in her quarters. However the female had other plans and in the middle of the night managed to escape from his compound and vanish without a trace.
The betrayal of Teu was shocking to Garek; he quickly put a bounty on her head. Anyone who came across the female and killed her would be given 10,000 credits and Gareks thanks. However much to his dismay no one acted on this bounty, as the female was gone into the smoke not seen on any core planets. Garek quickly set off to search the galaxy for his lost love, he was on Courscant when reports of her families murders. He was near her former house when they occurred and had seen someone leaving the building, but did not know it was his former love.
Garek had heard of someone matching his formers love interest in the far reaches of the galaxy on a planet called Tarthos. He traveled to this planet, with no high hopes but he had no other leads to follow. Upon landing on the planet, he visited the Crossroads and heard her name mentioned by several customers. She had a new name she now went by Teu Pepoi. Apparently she married since their last meeting. This caused the man to seethe in anger and swear to kill her; he left the bar and walked the streets. Quickly he viewed the female walking, surrounded by guards through the streets. With her were two small children. This complication spurred his hate even more, he felt pure cold coming from his former student, he knew she was now the master and to kill her now would end his own life. Instead, he became a productive member of Tarthos citizens and watched Teu from afar. His revenge would have to wait.
