History

Early Years

Revak. The name was given to him by his parents, Lao and Aris Kur who were adventure/historians of the ancient Sith empire. They came to Taris in search of the ruins of the old undercity, which had been forgotten due to the “good riddance to bad rubbish” mindset of the Taris elite. Revak grew up amongst the rubble brought to the world after Lord Malak’s bombardment nearly 4000 years prior. From an early age, Revak was taught the history of the Sith. He had a fascination with the Dark Lord Revan, whom he was named after, and studied all he could on his tactics, his campaigns and his double lightsaber style. His parents encouraged this. Lao was the warrior while Aris was the scholar. His parents insisted he not only out match others in combat but in wisdom as well. With both parents being proud Zabrak, Revak had strict workout and study routines.

Lao trained Revak to find and fight for food. Sometimes he would leave Revak on his own for days, conditioning him to survive on his own using the skills he was taught. Armed with only a pair of vibro-blades, Revan would often take on various thugs and swoop gangs. The encounters many times left him bruised and broken, but taught him to analyze the situations and learn from his mistakes. He not only learned how to endure physical pain but to use strategy to overcome foes much larger than him. Aris had a very different approach. She would sit with Revak for hours reading to him. She had many datapads on ancient Sith lords and the general history of his people and the universe. She viewed him idling a Sith lord as a motivator and often told him with hard work and dedication, could one day process the same skills that set Revan part form his peers. Knowledge, to her, was more important than physical strength, but knew what he was learning from his father had its own importance.

On one of his explorations in the lower city, he ran into some trouble. Revak was jumped by a gang of young mercenary boys. As hard as he fought, they overpowered him. He awoke to find a human female named Di’an, tending to his wounds. She was a few years older than him but he was drawn to her by her charisma, strong will and knowledge of the world. A grand pilot, she came to reside on Taris after her HWK-290 light freighter “Mystic” crashed on the planet. He learned much from her and the two became inseparable. Early in his childhood Aris noticed something different about Revak. His ability to learn new things quickly with little effort was unlike anything she had ever seen. Loa noticed this in his combat training. He was Force sensitive. Neither of them knew how to train Revak in developing his powers. As much as they wanted Revak to follow in their footsteps, they knew he needed to be challenged. The Dark Jedi Brotherhood and the Shadow Academy were to be his future.

Teen Years

Revak’s 18th birthday would be a day he would never forget. His father sent him out, as he always did, to find food. He told Revak that he had some big news for him when he returned. Upon his return, Revak found his home destroyed. Marks from blasters peppered the walls. What could only have been a thermal detonator, had ripped a giant hole in his house. His parents and most of their research were missing. Footprints led away from the scene. He followed them until he came to a clearing were a ship had landed and taken off. He felt rage building inside of him. He clenched his fists, let out a blood curtailing scream and slammed his fists on the ground. The rage exploded out of his fists, sending him through the air several meters. Di’an, who was repairing her ship nearby, heard the explosion and ran over to Revak. She helped him up and held him as he broke down in tears. Revak would bury his emotions and help Di’an repair her ship. He left Taris, never to return.

On their journeys, they landed on many worlds. Di’an taught Revak much more than he could have ever learned on a data pad. He learned how to pilot the Mystic, operate a nav-computer and identify planets by sight.

It was on Kashyyyk that his life would once again change forever. Revak had always wanted to see a world covered in diverse animal and plant life. He hadn’t seen many trees growing up so a world covered in trees amazed him. While resupplying, a loud explosion was heard overhead. A large ship had lost one of its engines and came crashing through the thick forest canopy. Large tree branches, engulfed in flames, rained down on the landing platform. Revak was hit and knocked back by the falling debris. His head bled from the impact and amongst the screaming and chaos, he heard a familiar voice calling for help. Revak started to run towards the cry for help. Dodging falling debris and jumping over bits of cruiser parts, he made his way to the center. Behind a wall of fire he found Di’an trapped by a large piece of the engine. Unable to reach her he watched as her clothes caught fire. He screamed her name. The look of terror on her face went away as her eyes met his. She smiled at him and mouthed words “I will always be with you.” When their eyes locked, the chaos seemed to disappear, they both seemed to savor the last moment they would see each other. The moment ended when a large branch came crashing down on the platform. Embers flew into the air. When the flames died down, all that was left was Revak and the Mystic. The rest of the platform, as well as Di’an, now rested in the Shadowlands.

Revak knelt down and closed his eyes, he kept her pleasant smile fresh in his mind while trying to block out what happened. It took all of his strength to stand back up. This would be the last time he openly showed emotion. He gathered what supplied where left and took off through the gap left in the tree tops.
