Jonah Kraul is an ex-Imperial officer who agreed to help the Crimson Tide attack [Clan Plagueis]]. The dark jedi themselves were unaware of who he was. The only appearence he had made was at the end of the Battle of Byfrost, but due to that the Consul decided it was best to place a 35,000 credit bounty on his head for being in alliance with the Tide. Today, he works with Calliban to form plans to lay seige to Clan Plagueis

History

Imperial Officer

Kraul was one of the few men who gladly volunteered to become part of the Imperial Army. He started as an intelligence officer on Coruscant, but he lacked the true motivation to become a successful agent. Still, Kraul did what he had to with pride and wanted to become a high-placed officer one day. One of his last missions was to infiltrate a planet suspected of rebel activities. He was ambushed, because he was expected due to an information leak. Kraul miraculously survived and killed over ten rebels. The man returned as a hero.

Lord Vader himself thanked Kraul for what he did on the further unknown planet and asked if the man had any wishes the Sith could grant. The still young Jonah saw an opportunity and requested a battalion to clean up the messes on Coruscant. Kraul notified Vader there had to be a republican sympathiser as mole here and the imperial officer wanted to get rid of him. His wish was granted and Kraul got himself a fully armed battalion of Stormtroopers together with an imperial shuttle.

Instead of infiltrating the bureau for imperial intelligence, asking subtle questions and spying on colleagues, Kraul invaded the building, rounded everyone up and arrested them. Kraul and his right hand, Lieutenant Mozz, ‘interrogated’ personnel for over three days without any result. Both of them got tired and decided to execute a group of ten persons to make an example. Although the method was highly unorthodox and brutal, it had success and the mole identified himself.

Kraul and Mozz were hailed and thanked by the Emperor himself. There are rumours that Palpatine did not like Kraul and never wanted him around. The mission on Coruscant was not the way the Emperor would handle things, but he also had to recognize ambitious and eager officers as a good example for the Empire itself. So he and Vader arranged that Kraul would become the commanding captain of this battalion and was stationed on the 2nd Class Imperial Star Destroyer ‘Nemesis’ under the command of General Ackar.

So Kraul resigned as an intelligence officer and became part of the infantry instead. He loved every bit of it and because his background was unknown to his men and right hand Mozz, there were speculations that Kraul was a Mandalorian. He never confirmed it, but the hypothesis makes sense. Kraul loved every battle, from strategy to the part where one spills another mans’ blood. His missions were almost always cleaning up rebel activities and such.

Although Lieutenant Mozz was considered a friend by Kraul, the latter did not care much when Mozz was killed during a mission. It only meant that Kraul was more in charge of the battalion which named itself after it leaders, ‘Iron Will’. General Ackar was pleased with the accomplishments of this group and became somewhat legendary among the ranks of his army. Kraul took advantage of the opportunity and enlarged his influence on his battalion, on the general & the entire army. So he became the right hand of Ackar.

The loss of the first Death Star was something the entire crew and soldiers onboard the ‘Nemesis’ completely missed, while they were travelling through the outer regions of imperial space. While the second Death Star was still under construction the ‘Nemesis’ and several other cruisers were relocated and stationed in the vicinity of Endor.

Birth of the Remnant

The day the second Death Star exploded, was a black day for the army of Kraul. Not only was another precious space station destroyed, Emperor Palpatine killed while battling the Jedi Luke Skywalker and did Lord Vader betray his Master, also general Ackar died while he was onboard the Death Star for a special meeting of the high-placed officers with the Emperor. The ‘Nemesis’ was able to jump into hyperspace with several other ships and escaped the space above Endor.

The group of the Imperial Remnants was being formed and Kraul became general of Ackar’s army, or what was left of it. Several officers were killed together with Ackar, while a rather large part of the army was destroyed on the surface of Endor. Kraul made sure he and his men remained stationed on the ‘Nemesis’.

Kraul was not happy with the developments among the Remnants. Every commanding officer tried to succeed another and everyone had a different idea of what needed to be done with the heritage of the Empire. Kraul grew tired of this and hated it to run away from a good fight, because he was ordered to do so. Also frustrating was that the Imperial Remnants took heavy losses all over the galaxy. Still, Kraul remained loyal and stayed with the Remnants.

Several years after the Battle of Endor there was a meeting of the most important and still remaining imperial officers of the Outer Rim. Unfortunately the gathering ships were being ambushed by a republican fleet. Practically no ships survived the destruction or were not taken over by republican boarding parties. The ‘Nemesis’ had its finest hour and was the first imperial vessel being hit. The bridge was heavily damaged and due to that Admiral Negosha died because of his severe injuries. Kraul knew that this ship and the other vessels were doomed if they would stay there. So he forced the second-in-command Zeno to jump into hyperspace. It was one of the best possible choices Kraul could make and the ISD II survived the slaughter.

Outlaw

The ‘Nemesis’ never returned to Imperial Remnant space, but instead decided to follow its own course. Kraul became more important on the bridge ever since Negosha died. Together with the loyal commander Zeno he ruled over the ship and the entire crew. None ever questioned the defection of Kraul, because he convinced them that the Imperial Remnants would sign their own death warrant in the end. The Republic was too strong as an opponent and as long as the imperial officers were unable to unite themselves, the Empire would not be reborn.

Kraul and the ‘Nemesis’ disappeared for many years, every now and then there were rumours that it re-appeared after a long absence into known space. The only thing Kraul truly wanted was to construct an entire new Empire with a rightful heir of Palpatine as the new Emperor. No longer was there mere blood thirst and simple cruelty. Instead, Kraul adapted to the new situation and environment and changed his strategy. Kraul & Zeno agreed that they needed to find a remote solar system where they could hide. From there they would be able to start a new project for a new and improved Empire.

Ever since the ‘Crimson Tide’ has been active in the Acarr system, unidentified sources have claimed that the ‘Nemesis’ is back with a vengeance and allied with these pirates. None can confirm these rumours so far. The fact pirates wore imperial armour during a mission on Eden and that an Imperial Star Destroyer jumped out of hyperspace just after the space battle above Byfrost was over, raises suspicion. The only thing people can suggest is that he allied with the pirates for the army. Kraul had a Super Star Destroyer, and Calliban had a good size of troops.

Crimson Tide

During their alliance, the leader of the Crimson Tide Calliban Crimson asked Jonah if he would helped them fight against Clan Plagueis. Jonah himself had no real reason to attack them, but was hungry for a good fight, and knew that dark jedi would give it to him. He agreed to help Calliban, taking control of the pirate fleet, and they secretly made their plans to lay waist to the planet

Other

  • Distinguishing marks: Kraul saw many battles in his long career and because of that his face looks extremely battered and is filled by many scars. This gives him a grim look. He is probably the only general that wears the armour of a Stormtrooper, although this particular one is modified and partially painted black.
  • Phobias: Suffers from paranoia-attacks because his distrust towards others is extremely strong and this makes it difficult for him to follow his own strategy. Always there is the fear someone might backstab him or betray him in any other way. The only officer he trusts is the commanding officer of the ‘Nemesis’, Commander Zeno who succeeded Admiral Negosha. When he gets angry and frustrated, he easily eliminates his opponents through brute force rather than searching a political solution.
  • Military Rank: Former imperial intelligence officer, former commander of the Galactic Empire, former general of the Imperial Remnants, vigilante general of the defecting army ‘Iron Will’, which deserted from the Imperial Remnants for having another strategy to restore the Empire than the Remnants.
  • Character information: The general is what one may cal the true face of the enemy. Although the Emperor has been dead for more than ten years and the Empire itself is long gone, Kraul still remains loyal to its ideals and values. He’s a tall man with an exceptional strength and despite his age still in good shape.
