Ignoring Sith Holocron tradition, the Holocron of Detonation appears as a multifacetted near orb-like ball of harsh red crystal emitting a cruelish glow and is small enough to be easily held by a Human. The crystal lattice - which holds the information on the Combustion technique - was handcrafted from fragile crystal shards, fused with rare ore in an intricate geometric design created to instill awe. Carbon dating places this delicate artefact at approximately 1,500 BBY.
Function
A technology believed to be handed down from the Ancient Sith Ruler Adas - by means of the Rakata's Infinite Empire - to the present Dark Lord of the Sith, the holocron is an invaluable tool. Once properly assembled, the device recorded the physical and mental characteristics of the holocron's owner; forging a gatekeeper, or guide, through the library of information: history, technique, philosophy and application. Once a Force-sensitive individual came in possession of a holocron, the gatekeeper would appear as a three-dimensional, interactive persona to the vault of information; able to quickly recover necessary information, or dictations, depending - in some cases - on the potential of the User. With the proper amount of power and discipline, one could tap into the vast deposit of knowledge.
