This does not jive with SW continuity. Aside from the borderline god-modding of supposing that one clan could succeed where six failed, it's too early for vong to do anything but hate us. And no, even if faced with death, they would not join us. They would die. We're dealing with zealots here... and we are infidels in their eyes.
