However, he had the misfortune of being a member of a cadet branch of the family - a major one, but one with a history of rebelliousness and usurpation against the legitimate main line of the royal family. As a child life was peaceful. Haran spent his formative years in an agrarian paradise. His homeworld was largely untouched by the wider galaxy, nestled deep in an uncharted star cluster within the Unknown Regions. People lived comfortably, yet simply. Only public buildings possessed the reactors necessary to maintain consistent power, most private residences being powered by ancient windmills and waterwheels. Ships were few and far between - virtually unknown to and unseen by the average peasant. The royalty, however, prided themselves on their skills in the cockpits of the small handful of dated and rusting starfighters which made up the planetary defense force. Exploring the rugged, colorful deserts of his homeworld, sparring in scrubby forests with his siblings and cousins, and enjoying the serenity a breeze cutting across the surface of an exotic river, Haran was at peace with his home. |

- "What happens when we've bent the rules so far that they come around and stab us in the back?"
- ―Gilad Pellaeon to Grand Admiral Thrawn
Haran Arad, is a sitting Councillor of Urr and acting captain of the Solari (MC80 Star Cruiser), the flagship of Clan Odan-Urr. He was born in the Unknown Regions on a sparsely populated (by Galactic Standards) planet known to locals as Ziz. In his capacity as a ship captain, Haran oversees and directs some of the clan's most powerful and destructive assets. Fortunately, and despite his penchant for rebellious tom-foolery, he is regarded by his colleagues as an even-handed and restrained member of the council, fervently dedicated to Clan Odan-Urr and to the Light Side of the Force.
Royal Life on Ziz (15 BBY - 2 ABY)
Origins
Born into the royal family presuming to rule over Ziz, Haran grew up in some modicum of luxury with a strong emphasis on education and martial prowess.
Cousins' War
When his father died in 0 BBY, Haran's elder brother--supported by a cadre of dissatisfied nobles--took up the family tradition and marched on the capital with his warriors.
