Samael Ozriel is a Krath Archpriest of Clan Tarentum.

History

Not Of This Generation

Born in the Ghost Nebula in 5 ABY, Samael was the son to an Umbaran peasant who traded him to move up in society. His "adopted" parents were an Umbaran nobleman and a witch, who would educate Samael in the ways of life inside the Ghost Nebula. His new parents seemed to care for him, doting on their newborn like loving parents. The mother, coming from a long line of Force Users, was the first to sense her new son's affinity for the Force. His father, long been searching for a way to progress further in society, saw the boy as a means to an end. He would be groomed to be a shadow warrior, eliminating obstacles in his fathers path to power. Because of this desire, Samael was taught an unorthodox education which ranged from poisons to anatomy to assassination techniques as well as evidence removal. Demonstrating an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, Samael would also be taught by his mother in the ways of ancient magic that all women in her family were taught. After five years of study, Samael had become equal to his mother in skill and efficiency, eventually murdering her in a ritual to further increase his power. He was eleven at the time, and felt remorse over killing the only person who had ever shown him love. He would grow to resent his father, who seemed unaffected by his wife's death.

Immediately following his mother's funeral, Samael had been tasked by his father to begin eliminating other nobleman. Samael enjoyed the work, feeling a rush every time his victim expired in front of him. With every success, Samael was met with another target, but with every failure came horrendous beatings by his father who would then place him inside a deprivation chamber that he had created for torturing others in his pursuit for power. Inside the chamber, Samael would hear voices and hallucinate, garnering nuggets of hidden knowledge and half truths that the boy believed to be true. After awhile, Samael began intentionally failing to spend more time in the chamber, eventually leaving evidence at multiple murder scenes that linked his father to the crimes. There is no evidence to suggest that Samael was ever involved, but many of the nobleman in the Ghost Nebula suspected Samael orchestrated the rise and fall of his father the second he was placed inside the chamber for the first time.

After his father's incarceration, control of the Ozriel estate went to Samael's uncle, Tythis. A drunk by trade, Tythis knew what his nephew was capable of and banished the younger Ozriel from his home so he could drink in peace and not worry about his ward. Abandoned by his family, Samael had decided it was over for him on Umbara. Shortly before the young Umbaran's departure, Tythis was found with his throat slit and tongue pulled through it. Authorities have yet to solve the case, but it is believed to be one of Samael's kills. This was when the young man was dubbed as "The Boogeyman", having a tendency to come in the dark and leave without a trace other than a body.

Granny Granny Granny, Come Out With Me Instead

After leaving Umbara, Samael headed towards the one place in the galaxy he knew he could hide: Nar Shaddaa. He stayed inside the Refugee center mostly, preying upon the others that had made it their home for necessities. Here he met a lady that others had referred to as Granny, a local elder who gave people medicine and told stories to the children. Blind and seemingly frail, she was a constant target for thugs and other hoodlums trying to make a name for themselves. Granny, however, held dark secrets inside her and Samael would make it a point to frequent her dwelling often. A strange bond was formed, one Samael hadn't felt since his mother, and the two lived in relative peace for a little while. Granny would teach Samael what she knew about medicine, eventually revealing to him that the stories she told were more than just warnings to children. She would teach Samael even more dark magic and Sith rituals, having learned it from an old flame in her younger days. In exchange, Samael would ensure the hoodlums were no longer a problem. Authorities had found numerous bodies in various stages of decay near the Starport landing pads, the perpetrator behind the crime never being discovered.

Unfortunately, age and illness would take Granny's life in 26 ABY, leaving Samael alone again. Deciding emotional attachments weren't worth the eventual pain, he began targeting people in the Refugee sector that he knew had attachments. Ozriel deemed that no one other than himself remembered his mother or Granny, and demanded that the fate of being forgotten not fall on him. He would begin a spree of terror that would leave authorities and civilians alike frightened to be on the streets. In his grief fueled rage, Samael murdered upwards of fifteen people, though the number has never been fully confirmed. Shortly after a breakthrough was on the horizon, the bodies stopped piling up and all leads went cold. Their main suspect, Samael, had seemingly vanished from the Smuggler's Moon.

Consider Their Wishes

Upon leaving Nar Shaddaa, Samael began to follow a rumor he had heard about the Yridia system. He had heard that there was a group of dark side users that might be able to further his own understanding of the magic his mother and Granny had taught him. This pursuit led him across the galaxy, wanting to make sure he was prepared for anything that came at him once he arrived in the Yridia system. His pilgrimage increased his knowledge and abilities, learning from various people on numerous planets and establishing contacts with organizations of a less than legal nature. Some of the people he interacted with disappeared, but no one seemed to notice.

In 30 ABY, Samael made his way to the Yridia system and garnered the attention of Tarentum once he began his usual killing agenda. Admiring his ability to avoid capture and his use of Sith magic and basic alchemy, the Summit of Tarentum offered him a home on one condition: The killing sprees in the Yridia system ended. The Umbaran agreed and began learning what it was they had to teach the psychotic Samael. A quick learner coupled with his thirst for knowledge saw the newly dubbed Krath grow in power rapidly, routinely crossing the lines with his study of forbidden arts. Often using himself to experiment on, Samael would routinely push the boundaries of what his Summit deemed acceptable to further his own power and understanding.

Physical Description

Appearing to be in his early thirties with a bald head and medium length beard, Samael stands at above average height for his people and carries a lithely built frame given to him from hours of training in assassination techniques and knife play. A ghostly white eye is set against equally pale skin, with two prominent horns protruding from his forehead due to surgically implanted calcium deposits. The skin around them has cracked and callused, appearing as though they tore through his flesh. His left eye was replaced with a red crystal, the energy discharge that comes off of it having seared the flesh around it. His back is covered in scars due to various failings of his in his family's political ploys, creating an intricate and detailed design.

His forearms, usually wrapped tightly in black cloth, are etched from the wrist to the shoulder in alchemical symbols of the Ancient Sith, with his chest having the equation many believe will lead them to eternal life branded onto it.

His facial features show excessive amounts of decay, his lips having completely fallen off as well as his nostrils and ear lobes.

Personality

To understand Samael's personality, one needs to look at his upbringing. His mother, the only person he ever felt love or a connection to, died by his hands during a ritual for power. His father, distant and emotionless, manipulated his son into killing rivals and would torture the boy for his failings. He was abandoned by his uncle upon the death of his father, and due to the experiences he felt when he killed, would grow to become addicted to the sensation of taking another person's life. He is a predator to the core, and has no strong emotional attachments of any kind.

However, he still has a sense of humor and tries to see the positive side of things, albeit in a dark way. Due to his psychopathic tendencies, any display of emotion or a personality from Samael could just be a mask worn by the Krath to get close to an individual.

Skills and Abilities

Samael is a talented and accomplished assassin, having been doing the job for as long as he can remember. His knowledge of assassination techniques is highly varied, proficient in the use of poisons and gadgets to achieve his goals. Samael is also highly proficient in stealth, using the shadows and environment to his advantage and rarely leaving the cover of darkness.

Skilled in the lightsaber form Vapaad, Samael will unleash the negative emotions that swirl inside him during combat. This allows him to create a startling offensive, never giving the opponent an opening to counter attack. Though he hates using Vapaad, as he would rather kill his enemy with a well placed dagger to the back, Samael is graceful in his employ of the form.

Samael also has demonstrated a keen understanding of the forbidden arts of blending Sith magics with Alchemy to reanimate and control dead tissue. No one has actually seen the Krath do the things he has claimed to do, but no one has been willing to travel alone with him to see his experiments either.

Weapons and Equipment

Samael utilizes a lightsaber in open combat, preferring to use a dagger in other situations that require someone dead. The dagger was a trophy he had stolen from an opponent he ran into on his pilgrimage, a Gungan named Kah Manet that fled the Umbaran shortly after they began to fight. In his retreat, the Gungan dropped the bone dagger.
