Known only as Shade, this master of life and death belonged to a group called The Keepers.
Very little was known of this person and even less of his group. Hunted for many generations, they had forged on despite the threat. It was only when Palpatine lusted for their power did The Keepers nearly fall.
They worked in secret places on remote worlds. They perfected their art and diligently saw their learning's to the next generation of Keepers. It is unknown just how long this sect had been in operation. Palpatine unfortunately seized all of their books dating before the start of the Old Republic.
Hating the Imperials for what they did, what was left of the Keepers sought safety on a remote planet. It was there they came in contact with the Dark Jedi of Gladius of Tarentum. Seeing an opportunity to keep the sect going, they promised to teach these Jedi only if they shed the taint of the Imperials.
What was known about Shade is what is written in his personal book. Like all other Keepers, Shade kept a journal of his learnings. He had not taken on an apprentice at the time of Palpatine and so has no one to keep his line going.
Shade never was one to talk. No one of the group was very talkative. He preferred to be left alone to his studies and practices. It was these and several other traits that led to Shade becoming apart of The Keepers.
So I was taken from my family without ever saying good-bye. My unseen master quickly told me to forget about the concepts of life and death. He said they were one and the same and yet so distantly apart from one another. I was sad to leave it all behind but they would not miss me. I would learn from my cloaked master and become more than a simple farmers boy.
It is written that when a master passes on, they infuse their knowledge into their apprentice and the cycle keeps going. Now that Palpatine had seen the death of five of The Keepers it was uncertain if the knowledge of the past would be taught or if The Keepers would continue as just two. Little did I know how all of that would come to a strange yet inevitable end.
Shade died in 32 ABY, killed at the hands of Sith Bloodfyre, Maxamillian von Oberst, and Zero Tarentae.
