Character History
Jonathan (Jon) Leslie was a Lieutenant Commander of the Galactic Empire's Imperial Navy. He earned his way up through the ranks through various combat exercises and real combat situations to be known as an excellent TIE pilot that broke the mold of standard Imperial training. He remained unnoticed by many higher ranks due to constant relocation throughout the Outer Rim Territories relating to the specific mission profile.
Childhood
Jonathan Leslie was the son of a middle-class family who owned and operated a small travel service. When born, his parents were on a delivery to Mos Eisley Spaceport on Tattooine causing Jonathan to have no homeworld due to his birth en route. Around the age of seven he became fascinated with star craft whether they be local freighters or combat vessels. He took an interest in design schematics and learned the strong and weak points about many types of craft and tried to correct mistakes he thought were evident in the design. When his parents were killed in a craft explosion, Jon mourned briefly but coped with his losses and departed for the Imperial Academy on Carida.
The Imperial Academy
When he entered The Academy on Carida, Jon for the first time in his life had become an independent being. However, he refused to become just another mindless drone for Palpatine, feeling that individuality was what made him a better pilot. This sense of individuality was what caused Jon to be looked down upon by his superiors. Jon felt no shame with being himself only due to the fact that he was able to out fly any other pilot in his graduating class. Jonathan would repeat a simulation exercise until he found every possible way to take full advantage of the situation at hand. The superiors that once frowned upon his individuality now had a newfound respect for him and would have him stay at the Academy as long as he could to hone his combat skills.
Imperial Service
By the time the Battle of Yavin occurred, Jon's time at the Academy had come to an end due to the outbreak of civil war. He was first deployed back into the Outer Rim Territories to try and uncover any clues to the whereabouts of where the Rebel Alliance had fled after Yavin. After various combat skirmishes, the reputation that was established at the Academy had finally caught up to Jonathan and the officers who ranked above him. While Jon refused to give himself any credit as an above average starfighter pilot, his superiors overly praised him with promotions and available craft to fly. While pleased with these opportunities presented to him, Jon still felt that he needed to earn these praises and would do exactly that.
Jonathan loved a challenge, and with the Alliance's development of the A-Wing he finally had found one worth his full potential as a pilot. When assigned to lead a squadron of TIEs to Cardooine to attack a Rebel shipyard, Jon was pleasantly surprised to see that the Rebels had finally developed a new adversary to combat the now active TIE Interceptor. The mission ended in a rather quick failure due to the loss of over half his squadron. However it was not a complete failure due to the fact that Jonathan had obtained new information to study on the A-Wing.
After months of constant relocation Jon started to ponder what was becoming of the Empire and how the Rebels were massing such a growing force. He did not let these thoughts get in the way of his starship mechanics or to the ears of his superiors. While during a combat exercise with fellow pilots Jon developed a newfound respect for the TIE Interceptor and the great speed it possessed. This speed would allow Jon to save himself and the three other pilots from an installation under attack by local pirates. The speed from the Interceptors would allow the group of pilots to evacuate the station and return to the safety of a nearby Imperial Star Destroyer. With this new sense of pilot/ship partnering, Jon wanted to heavily customize his Interceptor to not only suit his needs but to help the ship meet maximum efficiency. Spending countless hours each day in the hanger caused Jon's mind to wander once again to wonder what it really was he was fighting for. He had more pressing issues to worry about such as the completion of his Interceptor.
When the months of work were finally complete Jon's Interceptor could easily be called the Ultimate Close Combat fighter. Now equipped with life support, shielding, warhead systems, and an improved Ion Booster package, the Interceptor was ready for anything the Alliance or any faction for that matter could throw at it. During a solo test flight the Star Destroyer in which Jon was assigned to had come under attack by Rebel scout fighters. Jonathan quickly disembarked from his test flight and rocketed toward the assault force. Stunned by the fighter that had come out of the shadows of space itself, the Alliance fighters that weren't completely and utterly destroyed by the Interceptor quickly fled into hyperspace causing Jon's superiors to once again take notice of the pilot but this time it was for a review of his actions as of late.
The review session was quickly called to Jonathan's attention. He had faced sessions like this before but what had made this one so much more different was the presence of a Dark Jedi. Jon knew of the powers that Dark Jedi wielded and he figured that now his independence would be his death. However fate had intervened. The Jedi was actually impressed with salvation of the Star Destroyer and the initiative that Jonathan took in modifying his craft. These actions had resulted in his promotion to Lieutenant Commander from the Dark Jedi himself along with an offer. He immediately took the offer, seeing the potential of great success in working with individuals as great as Dark Jedi.
