Fall of S.C.E.P.T.E.R.
“"Details of this event are hazy and often contradictory, almost seemingly an intentional cover by the Clans Summit as to the official details. Few are fully aware of how the Rollmaster was recovered and exactly what happened concerning the One Sith Elder Dassac"
History
Siege on Klatoonie
The S.C.E.P.T.E.R training facility on Klatoonie was attacked by assailants on whom there was a lack of intel. Communications within the facility were severed in the attack.
Aboard the Nighthawk, Mako and troops under his command were sent by Kordath to take back the comms center (“The Talons”, Ood Bnar and Vol were mentioned as part of this team). Meanwhile Uji (aboard a separate vessel) attempted to coordinate a defense and Ernor, Kalon and Egregious were ordered to take a shuttle to the surface and reinforce Uji’s defense, holding the line until comms were restored. Kordath took his ship, the Nighthawk, and departed for “another place it had to be”, promising to return and assist once communications were restored. Ernor and his team departed from the Nighthawk in their shuttle and were confronted by a Strike-Class Cruiser that was holding orbit near their entry point. A ship known as the [BAC Darkest Night] attempted to provide covering fire for the shuttle but it proved largely ineffective as the team only barely avoided the firing turbo lasers.
After descending into the planet’s atmosphere and out of the reach of the cruiser, the shuttle was fired on again by the academy’s anti-air batteries which had been captured by enemy forces. They barely managed a landing and a quick escape before their shuttle was blasted by the artillery strikes.
The team was quickly sighted and waved over by a trooper from a small cadre led by one Colonel Cardiin. He informed them that the artillery that fired on the airfield originated from the training range, where there were several anti-air batteries as well as a command center which housed controls for all live fire systems. He stated that the artillery must employ spotters, as they do not have line of sight to the airfield. Cardiin also revealed to the Arconans the existence of a series of cave systems which were used in training exercises. The hills in which the caves reside were attacked by the artillery captured by the enemy, causing cave ins. Several troopers were trapped within, although short range comms showed them to still be alive. He said that the artillery did not have line of sight to the hills/caves either and so must have used spotters.
Cardiin informed the team that the facility was severely under strength due to exhaustion of troops during the conflicts with the One Sith. He credited the primary reason for the facility not being overrun to the presence of “about a dozen” NCO’s of exceptional merit.
Cardiin also informed the team that the enemy had not pushed on the main facility and may be awaiting reinforcements. Kalon was sent out to find and eliminate the spotters while Ernor and Egregious scouted out the bunker to find an optimal path of attack that did not involve being torn to bits by artillery fire. Ernor received communication from Uji aboard the Darkest Night, signaling the comms were back online. He informed Ernor they would be on their own until the cruiser orbiting above was dealt with. He also stated Kordath would be bringing the Nighthawk to assist in this endeavour, although the timeframe in which he would arrive was unknown. He gave a final order not to destroy any equipment or infrastructure, including the anti-air batteries.
Kalon discovered and dispatched the three spotters, looting their corpses of cigs, a flask and a commlink that broadcasted only static when keyed in.
Kalon regrouped with Ernor and Egregious at their location near the bunker after receiving a message from them on his own personal commlink. The team made the decision to wait, as the enemy was not advancing and their orders were to “hold the line”, in addition to not being able to find an avenue of attack anyway.
Two hours passed before Ernor receives a comm from Uji explaining that Braecen had been delivered to the Darkest Night via shuttlecraft. Braecen then informed them through the comm that the Darkest Night would assist them in an assault on the bunker.
The Darkest Night proceeded to fire turbo lasers down upon the trenches separating the team from the bunker. The rising dust and smoke from the aftermath of the attack provided them with sufficient cover to charge the bunker. Ten minutes after the initial charge, the team managed to successfully eliminate all enemy opposition inside the bunker, reclaiming it for Arcona. The team then cleaned up and called for an extraction. One hour and one shuttle ride back to the Nighthawk later, Kordath informed his crew that they would be assisting Braecen when he went on the offensive against the ones who attacked the academy, and that Nath Voth had a captured enemy target in her interrogation room, being pressed for information.
It was revealed that the cruiser was already taken care of, thanks to for Kordath having successfully taunted the enemy captain. He served as bait and goaded the captain into chasing the Nighthawk nearly out of the system. It was at this point the Darkest Night was able to move in to assist with ground forces.
