Born on Commenor in 37 BBY, Tyber Vorrac has been a smuggler for essentially his entire life. Born with a strong connection to the Force, he was hidden from Jedi eyes by his parents and managed to avoid all forms of Force training throughout the following years. Joining Lanek Ensaari to form the Ensaari Free Traders in 21 BBY, he was one of the group's founders and was smuggling for the Rebel Alliance even before the group went rebel. Following Ensaari's death, he was captured by the Empire and imprisoned for a time, only to find freedom after the fall of the Imperials and would come to rebuild the Free Traders before bringing them to Jusadih in 30 ABY. A few years of activity would see him recognize his long-lost son, Kal Vorrac, as the system's Sith dictator.

Trivia
- Tyber Vorrac has been a conceptual character in Kal's backstory for two years; before that, Kal wasn't written as an illegitimate child. The change was made to make his backstory more plausible.
- While aware that he is a potentially strong Force sensitive, Tyber wants nothing to do with the Jedi or their Sith counterparts. He wants nothing to do with the Force, and much more readily trusts a good blaster.
- Tyber's name was decided upon after a game of Oblivion, in which Tiber Septim was mentioned. The name stuck in Kal's mind.
- Like Kal, Tyber has a distant Sith relative from the time of the Great Galactic War. The trace of Pureblood DNA is the reason for their shared skin condition, although only Kal has an instinctual predilection for the Dark Side and its ways.
