Introduction

Poen plains was the site chosen by Warlord Welshman as his Barony within Tarentum for his past Consular duties. Given complete control of the barren glacial sector his only obligation with the territory is to provide for the House during times of need.

Location

Located in the northern hemisphere of the ice world Yridia VI the Poen plains stretch across 50 square Km of carbon dioxide ice. The featureless desert shows no obvious heavy industry and the only sign of habitation are the five fabricated buildings large enough to hold a pair of Action IV freighters each...

Estate

Baron Welshman chose the apparently inhospitable location for his second grant for pretty much the same reason he was attracted to the Phoenix Crest, the accruing of material wealth. The planetoid is rich in relatively easily accessible ores and as such a boon for any entrepreneur willing to sink credits into the venture to extract them. Using a sizeable chunk of his profits from the Phoenix Crest the Warlord sunk into the icy strata numerous prefab structures to act as a series of mining facilities, each of the five conglomerates of prefab cubes are a tiered structures of three levels connected with air-locked turbolifts. The bottom level contains the hangers and storage facilities for the mining droids and the crew of technicians needed to ensure smooth running of the dozens of droids each facility makes use of, ore is constantly fed via repulsor tubes to the surface hangers for loading.

The second of the two levels house the command and control sections where the supercomputers needed for coordinating the AI brains of the miners are stationed. The apex of each pyramid, the only fraction above the ice are, as previously explained, given over to the hangers.

It should be noted however that Baron Welshman has had a sixth structure constructed within his dominion but this serves a much more personal purpose. Within its three levels are housed research labs, libraries and rooms put aside for his collection of trophies, weapons and lightsabers. Away from his home in Castle Tarentum, Welshman can most often be found residing within his entombed retreat playing host to whichever Tarenti has requested an audience or simply whiling away days engrossed in his research.

Industry

The industrial output of the combined facilities of Poen Plains amounts to 0.9MTons of ores annually however it could be said that these are not the most valuable export of Yridia VI, that title goes to the rare fungi which grows within the crevasses and caverns and exhibits strong microbicidal qualities. Mass fermentors and culturing sections have been set up on the lower floors of each base to extract the miraculous medicine which has been described as having a similar effect on infections as Bacta. The combined output of the drug is 2KTons per annum.

Workforce

Generally hired from throughout the system the number of staff surmount to 70 individuals per base, mostly in technical and support roles. The workers in this facility are subject to the same perks and rotation policy as his workers at the Crest, however due to distances involved with traveling too and from the outpost workers are expected to work eight weeks on two weeks off.
