Verlassen is a protocol droid that Rasilvenaira StormRaven acquired when she was given the NyghtFyre in 10 ABY. His name means 'forsaken', and was given to him by his previous owner, a Dressellian named Tsudaly. Whatever his original designation might have been is unknown. Rasilvenaira never bothered changing his name, nor has she ever had his memory wiped. Some of the data regarding his origins were lost however, apparently at some point in his life previous, his memory was either wiped or at least altered. Rasilvenaira's best estimate on his age places his date of creation somewhere around 35 BBY.
Beyond his normal functions as a protocol droid, Verlassen's programming was also modified for piloting, and he serves as Rasilevnaira's co-pilot aboard the NyghtFyre. Over the years, Verlassen has developed a distinct personality, he is friendly to those he meets, eager to help where he can, but he also worries about his Mistress.
