Me'suumb'Mando'ad, called Mesad for short, is a planet of Mandalorians beyond the outer rim. It was first populated with sentient life around 7,000 BBY during the first Mandalorian crusades. Its inhabitants were stranded and were forgotten by most of the galaxy.
Geography
Mesad is a terrestrial planet with a wide range of geography. It is predominately ocean, with two small continents, Gadevonaciar (named for the first two letters of the name of each house that resides on it) and Daurosavin. The total landmass of the planet is around 1.6 million square kilometers.
The far north of this continent is separated by many kilometers of water but is on the same continental plate as the rest. It has the planet's only land in arctic conditions.
The northwest of this continent is home to many beaches and a more temperate climate. It has large tracts of fertile land used for farming crops and growing fruit; less fertile areas are used for raising livestock. It also has a large number of forested areas, with jungles as you get farther from the coast and closer to the southeast side. West Gadevonaciar produces almost eighty percent of the planet's food supply.
The middle of the continent is a large jungle wilderness. The apex predator is a large feline called a Copi'kyra roughly translating to cute and deadly; most are around the size of a lothwolf though there have been alleged sightings of Copi'kyra the size of rancors. Some have been domesticated, and amond those two major breeds have developed; smaller ones that are kept as pets and ones comparable in size that can be trained as a mount. Wild Copi'kyra are colored green, grey, black, and/or orange, while domesticated ones may additionally have white or brown fur.
The southeast is mostly along the planet's equator. It houses the planet's largest hot desert and has a lot of rocky, mountainous terrain. It also contains the planet's strangest plant life. There are tree-like plants that grow straight out rocks and have trunks that are highly metallic. In fact, once dried, purified and forged the resulting metal is incredibly strong but is not flexible and can usually only be forged once because once cooled it takes much more heat to melt again. These 'trees' have been named gor'kurshi, translated roughly to metal-tree in basic, by the surrounding Mandalorians and they make their armor out of its wooden metal or shaap'yc'gor. It is rumored that shaap'yc'gor can even resist lightsabers, though this has not been tested.
The landscape of this small continent is generally flat. Nothing is more than 900 meters above sea level, and its coasts are very prone to flooding. It is just south of the equator and has very little inland water, though it rains very often near the coasts. Inland this continent houses the planet's second largest hot desert. The continent has very little in the way of large mammals but does have lizards, some of which are quite large. It is rumored there are creatures similar to Krayt dragons in the desert but there has not yet been confirmation. This continent has trees extremely similar to those once found on Mandalore; it is theorized that they were brought when the world was first colonized.
Mandalorian Houses
Mesad has eight distinct Mandalorian houses on it, each of which are essentially a small federation. Six of them reside on the continent of Gadevonaciar, one in the polar north, two in the tropical northwest and three in the rocky southeast, the last two are on the continent of Daurosavin and could easily be mistaken for one country.
House Ardes is along and inland of the east coast of Gadevonaciar. They have highly fertile fields and a lot of ranching, because of this they produce almost sixty percent of the planet's food. They have essentially no industrial sites and rely on House Ciravir for most of their powered machines and weapons. Most of the still functional republic technology was left within their borders and they therefore have the most resources for space travel.
House Vocin is slightly north of House Ardes and is their closest ally and trading partner. They produce just over twenty percent of the planet's food supply. House Vocin exports mostly fish and has a large portion of its population living on the many islands between the northern and southern islands of the continent of Gadevonaciar.
House Defoc is the planet's only clan living within arctic conditions, living in the icy tundra in the far north island of the continent of Gadevonaciar.
House Gares is the only landlocked house, and they dwell primarily in the gor'kurshi forests of Gadevonaciar, though some of their clans reside as far north as the jungles in the middle of the continent. They have three neighboring houses, Narir, Ciravir, and Ardes. While most of them dwell within the forest or jungle, a large tract of land within the jungle was deforested and made into the house's capital. Gares was the first house to domesticate copi'kyra and their exports are copi'kyra and purified and raw shaap'yc'gor. The jungles and forests have very little in the way of edible food, so House Galares relies on House Ardes and House Vocin for food trading them purified shaap'yc'gor.
House Narir dwells around a long river that cuts through the desert in southeast Gadevonaciar and controls nearly all of the fertile land on this side of the continent. It produces only enough food to feed its own clans but also has a large mining operation that provides the iron necessary to make shaap'yc'gor reusable, or even usable for things like making springs and axels. Periodically they will find conductive metals which are traded with the more industrial House Ciravir.
House Ciravir is mostly on the rocky southeast coast of Gadevonaciar, though some of their clans dwell in the desert to the west. They have become very wealthy among the houses because they control most of the industrial assets on the planet. While the other houses can slowly refurbish the ships from the clone wars and some can reverse engineer them, none can do it at the speed or scale Ciravir does. They are the only house that requires imported food for its entire population, they could not even feed their leaders if they cut off trade with House Ardes and House Vocin.
Living on the eastern coast of Daurosavin this house has constructed massive walls to keep the ocean from flooding their land. They have enough fertile land and deep-sea fishing to feed their clans though they have very little to export besides wood. They are very close trading partners with their western neighbor House Fratic.
House Fratic is the only house that lives fully within a desert. They only have fifty thousand people and consist of only one clan. They are very nomadic and can easily be mistaken for part of House Povinar because their people tend to settle down within Povinar's borders when they are older and could no longer survive the hostilities of the desert.
