Personality and Traits

"Let me give you some advice, Captain. It may help you to make sense of the world. I believe you find life such a problem because you think there are the good people and the bad people. You're wrong, of course. There are, always and only, bad people, but some of them are on opposite sides."
―Lord Vetinari, Guards! Guards!

As a Shard, Kaiburr has a moral framework that is so utterly alien and foreign to human experience that he can't be pegged as good or evil. Though he may seem to act in terrifyingly random ways, Kaiburr is no anarchist; nor does he strictly follow the law, because human and Shard understanding of 'law' as a concept may not even be equivalent. There is logic behind Kaiburr’s actions, it's just that he operates with an entirely different set of values and premises with which he draws his conclusions. In addition as a silicon-based species; Shard are neigh immortal and posses a Hive-mind that is inherently alien to most sentient thinking. This perspective makes Kaiburr feel a disconnect with other “organic” sentients who have a faster outlook on time, and because of these differences Kaiburr often struggles with understanding the "organics" around him, and they with him, making him introverted and quiet.

Personality & Traits
Dark Messiah With Great Power Comes Great Insanity

It's a crapsack world, and things are only getting worse. There are heroes, but the status quo won't let them cause more than a few ripples of good in a sea of black and gray morality. Out of this ambiguity comes a "savior", someone who brings hope to the downtrodden and preaches a Utopian vision of peace and prosperity for all. However, he isn't afraid to fight fire with fire. In a world where moral absolutes are impossible to find, he will use underhanded tactics, preemptive strikes, and otherwise act like Zata Magnus's patron saint in his quest to bring about that "perfect" world.

Kaiburr believes himself to be that hero, he won't hesitate to sacrifice himself for the Shard; in fact, he would die a thousand times and just as well accept a life of torture to reach his goal of freedom and equality for the Shard, but he will also not hesitate to grimly murder thousands in kind and torture many more to achieve that end. The thing is, Kaiburr believes that the end justifies the means. So while he'll hug orphans, he won't hesitate to make them with horrifying attacks on anyone opposing him.

Kaiburr has committed himself to the single goal of amassing power - completely, absolutely, and unflinchingly. In pursuit of his goal he has no limits, inhibitions, or fears. Nothing chains him or holds him back, you cannot make him flinch or falter. He cannot be intimidated, blackmailed, coerced, or otherwise convinced to back off from achieving his goal and there is no sacrifice he is unwilling to make or principle he is unwilling to compromise.

When Kaiburr gets involved—or perhaps obsessed—with a project, he ignores all distractions. This obsession has granted him eldritch insight and horrifying knowledge of Sith Alchemy and Sorcery, but the acquisition of the aberrant lore has taken it toll on his mind and twisted his perceptions of morality. Believing himself to be above reproach, Kaiburr held no compunction about violating the sanctity of another sentient being's mind or twisting their bodies in horrible alchemical experiments.

Personality & Traits
Alignment: Lawful Evil TBD

Kaiburr is a great respecter of laws and strict order, but life, beauty, truth, freedom, and the like are held as valueless, or at least scorned by him. Obviously, all order is not good, nor are all laws beneficial. Kaiburr consider order as the means by which each group is properly placed in the cosmos, from the lowest to the highest, strongest first, weakest last. "Good" is an excuse to promote the mediocrity of the whole and suppress the better and more capable, instead of each group structuring itself and fixing its place as compared to others, serving the stronger, but being served by the weaker.

Believing in using society and its laws to benefit himself, Kaiburr believes that Structure and organization elevate those who deserve to rule as well as provide a clearly defined hierarchy between master and servant. To this end, Kaiburr supports laws and societies that protect his own concerns. If someone is hurt or suffers because of a law that benefits him, well, too bad. Because he may be forced to honor an unfavorable contract or oath he may have made, Kaiburr is usually very careful about giving his word. Once given, he will break his word only if he can find a way to do it legally, within the laws of society. The cliché that there is "No honor among thieves" is false when dealing with Kaiburr. He is a person who is driven to attain his goals through force, power, and intimidation. Yet Kaiburr stands apart from the norm, with his own personal, code of ethics. He expects loyalty from his minions, punishing disloyalty and treachery with a swift merciful death. Kaiburr defines his terms and lives by them, whether anyone else likes it or not.
