The SHAFT is an EPIC Taldryan-based competition that focuses on excellence in the field of multiplayer gaming. SHAFT stands for Super Happy Awesome Fun Time.

A History of the SHAFT

A SHAFTly Beginning

A long, long time ago, a handsome, young Quaestor decided he needed to create an event of EPIC proportions to run for his House. This event would entail an extensive list of objectives that, once completed, would earn a member glorious rewards. This competition was to be called the Super Happy Awesome Fun Time, or SHAFT for short. Unfortunately, the Quaestor could not foresee the results of his actions. The members of House Dinaari went on a spree of wild, sexually-suggestive gaming and certain members managed to win dozens of medals. When the SHAFT ended and the final results were tallied, it was found that nearly a hundred medals had been awarded in the space of a month. The competition was deemed to pwntastic and was shut down forever...

The Return of SHAFT

But it seems some things that should have been forgotten were not. When the Consul of Taldryan, Duga Taldrya Arkarso looked deep into the past records of Taldryan events he rediscovered the SHAFT and decided he would bring the glorious competition back to the members of his Clan. Unfortunately many things had changed since the original SHAFT was run. The Master at Arms held too much power, too much sway over what could be rewarded, so the event had to be modified.

This new SHAFT was created to promote Capture the Flag gaming amongst the Clan. To that end, Duga commissioned the Herald to create custom warbanners that would be rewarded to the winner of each monthly SHAFT competition. It would be a new take on the ancient competition, but one that would succeed where the other had failed.
