Character History

Life on Ryloth

Impetus, birth name Tonal'la, was born as an only child in the underground Ryloth city of Sal'kaasa. Sal'kaasa was quite seperated from the rest of Ryloth, and as such the cultures and traditions varied slightly. Unlike the traditional Twi'lek government of a 5-man head clan, Sal'kaasa was ruled by a single king.

Tonal'la's father, Zentu'la, was a Light Jedi, and the primary assistant of the king. Since the King had no heir, it was common knowledge that the right to the throne would pass to him. Although adept in the ways of the Force, and aware of his daughters lust to wield the power, his fear of her falling to the Dark Side stopped him from tutoring her in the ways of the Force. She was however, given private tutoring in a veriaty of subjects, including self defence with a Twi'leki Lyaer'tsa.

At the age of seven, Tonal'la witnessed the murder of the King of Sal'kaasa by a Fosh assassin, Shaikanetsa. After the quick and clean attack, Shaikanetsa turned to the nearest witness, Tonal'la, with the intent of selling her as a slave. The battle of two knives against the girl's miniature Lyaer'tsa was brief, as Shaikanetsa crushed the futile defence. She ended up disarmed and the blade of her weapon across her neck. She fainted, and was saved from slavery only by her Father's timely appearence, but the damage had already been done. Tonal'la awoke from a coma two weeks later shaken from her experiences, with a large scar across her lekku.

As predicted, her Zentu'la was crowned king of Sal'kaasa, placing Tonal'la in royalty. After almost being kidnapped by Skaikaneysa, Tonal'la asked her father again to train her to wield the Force, claiming she could have defended herself if she could use it. Despite this, Zentu'la still refused to teach her the ways of the the force, following a prophecy passed down by the Sal'kaasa royalty.

'The daughter of the Jedi King Must not be trained in sacred Force, She'll learn the path to evil things and kill without remorse.'

That was the first time Tonal'la had heard the prophecy, and the thought of falling to the Dark Side frightened her. Zentu'la had given her many lectures on the terrors of the Dark Side, and she backed down from the argument.

Slavery on Tatooine

At the age of 15, Tonal'la was kidknapped by rodian slvaers from Tatooine. On Tatooine, she became a slave dancer for the 'Oasis Cantina'. For almost a year, Tonal'la was forced to dance in a skimpy outfit in front of about 50 men.

As Tonal'la finished a dance one night, and made to leave the cantina hall, a drunk Human cantina patron urged her to carry on. After she refused, he drew a dagger and threatened her with death if she didn't carry on. She still refused, and used her natrual agaility to defend herself from the attacker's drunken rage. Much to the amusement of the rest of the hall, the Twi'lek's foot caught the jaw of the human, knocking him onto his back. She then drove the dagger through his heart with no remorse. By chance, an off-duty Twi'leki Sith Knight named Scept'ine happened to be in the cantina. He noticed her skill in combat and approached her, sensing a strong Force presence around her, yet it felt untrained. Scept'ine reccomended her to the Sith Academy on Ryloth, a place where she could train in the ways of the Dark Side. From then on she would call herself Impetus, attack in Rylothean. Impetus fled the Oasis cantina. The Academy was situated underground inside a huge cavern, just on the edge of the Bright Lands.

Embracing the Dark Side

A week later, Impetus returned to the Cantina, to pick up her possessions. The managers of the Cantina attacked her for her desertion. Armed with a new Katana, she crossed swords with her old boss, the fight drawing the attention of a nearby wookie, who rushed to the Sith's aid. Sensing the Force in him, Impetus led him back to the Academy on Ryloth. From then on the Wookie trained alongside her in the ways of the dark side, under the name Laurus. Although he understood Galactic Basic, it took some time for Impetus to understand Laurus' communication.

Two years later, when Impetus was 18, she faced a frantic fight for her life, as 5 Krath knights marched towards the Academy, in a search for dark side artefacts, led by Kschamehellan. By then Impetus had modified her katana by use of Sith Alchemy, the sword was resistant to lightsaber blows, feather-light, and could never lose it's un-natrually sharp edge. They approached the Academy with their sabers activated, it seemed diplomacy was out of the question. The Academy contained only 8 sith, all of which stepped out into the cavern to face the attack. 5 were killed extremely quickly by the Krath, although a human Sith managed to impale one on the end of a katana. only Scept'ine, Laurus and Impetus remained to fight their way through the 4 remaining Krath. Scept'ine was cut down by Kschamehellan, who then noticed the combat skills and Force prowess of the pair. He offered to spare their lives if the swore to serve Scholae Palatinae, and never lost faith to the Clan. Impetus and Laurus still remain there, and Impetus still uses that same Katana.
