Character History

Octavia Morgan Obrie was born to Baku Obrie & Fable Deova-Obrie on Nar Shadda in the year 9ABY.The second Eldest out of 6 children, she was the only one to graduate with top honors from her regular schooling, and the second out of the six to be accepted to the Academy. Octavia had been in town for two days when the famine hit. Apparently it hadn’t rained since a little before her family had moved 3 months ago, so the food supply was running dry. However, the petite thirteen year old girl didn’t realize this, and now, instead of playing with her friends, she was being taken on a trip to search for food. “Nana! This isn’t fair!” she whined, “I don’t wanna go! I wanna see Gigi and Tonki Please?!” Pouting, the brown haired girl hoped that this effort worked. Unfortunately, Octavia always had a gift for knowing when an activity, outing or situation was going to head south, and on this outing, the same sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach was acting up again. When she realized that both of her grandparents were ignoring her as she was being pulled along by her grandmother she sighed. “Grandpa, I have a bad feeling about this. We shouldn’t go today. Let’s go tomorrow please?” With the worry evident in her voice she could tell that he grandfather heard her worry. Stopping in the middle of the busy marketplace, Jakub Obrie turned to face his eldest granddaughter with a smile. “My dear girl, I know how you are about your feelings, but we have to go search for food today. The closer we get to the start of the wet season the less of a chance we have to find food. We will be fine little one.”He then took his granddaughter by the hand and led Octavia and her grandmother to the forest. Moving into the sunny forest, Octavia’s grandfather had quieted her worries and she was actually starting to enjoy herself when her Grandmother finally pulled the young girl from her thoughts by handing her a basket. “Now Tavi, take this basket here, and go look for fruit, dear. Don’t go too far off the path, if you need anything, give a yell, and we should hear you ok?” Tatiana Obrie and her husband gave Octavia a kiss on the forehead before the young girl ran off into the forest, not realizing what was about to happen. After filling her basket, she began to walk back to the agreed upon meeting area when the sinking feeling came back. The whole time she had been picking fruit she felt like she had been being watched. She had just brushed it off as to some animal watching her in the shrubbery, that was until she could have sworn she saw a small furry looking creature on two feet cross on the path she had been walking, the same path that lead to where her grandparents would be waiting for her. Running down the path she began to worry even more. There was fruit scattered and squished on the ground, as if the person had been struggling with something and dropped the basket. And then she heard it. She heard a noise that she would never forget for as long as she lived. She heard something that sounded like a cross between a giggle and a growl, and when she looked in the direction of the noise she saw it. The furry teddy bear looking creature in the bushes licking its lips and making it’s demented growl-giggle. Quickly, Octavia turned on her heal and ran. Adrenaline pumping, she mentally kicked herself for letting her grandparents go on this expedition. I knew it! She thought to herself. I knew something bad would happen. But nobody ever believes me! Finally getting to the clearing she stopped to breathe and check her surroundings. Panic set in once more when she looked straight ahead and the scene before her. Two bodies were on the ground, the food they had gathered surrounding them in a bloody mess, with three of those same creatures and recognizing what they were. “Ewoks? Attacking people?!” Getting closer She watched them surround her grandparents and she charged at them. The group of three had somehow grown to seven and they watched Octavia as she ran to them, pushing them aside to get to her lifeless grandparents. Kneeling next to her grandfather she watched him try to reach for her hand, but was failing.Moving closer to him she began to cry. “Grandpa… Grandpa, you’ll be ok. I promise.” Her voice tailed off as she took his hand in hers, just in time for her to hear him whisper soft words to her. “Octavia, my darling girl. You are special, don’t ever forget I love you.” Crying and covered in her grandfather’s blood, anger rippled through her body. Looking up at the tallest of the Ewoks She stared at him intently with anger, when suddenly he went stiff and exploded into a bloody mess, covering the other Ewoks, her grandparents and Octavia herself in a mess of ewok parts. Scared beyond belief she got up and ran for her life, screaming the whole way into town. Stopping she saw a security officer, explained the best she could of the situation she passed out cold. Waking up some time later in the hospital she looked at her surroundings. Her parents were talking to a doctor, but she could only make out a few words. “She had been Part of an Attack… We did testing… Yes I’m sure she is… Octavia will be fine… But you should send her to a special school when she is of age…” Making eye contact with the doctor he smiled at her. “Hello Octavia, feeling better?” She shook her head no, and then as fast as she answered she passed out again.
