Moff Rylus Vane is an enigmatic Sith whose loyalty lies only to himself. Born during the fall of the Galactic Republic and having gone through adolescence during the rise of the Galactic Empire, Vane was an anomaly amongst xenophobic Imperials that had otherwise treated his homeworld with harsh disdain. After a short stint with the Imperial Navy - for which he was nearly denied - he was quickly recruited into the Imperial Security Bureau. Rylus quickly rose through the ranks of the Bureau, working with killer and brutal efficiency to stop uprisings and security threats against the Empire. Sometime prior to the fall of the Empire for his loyalty and efforts he was externally promoted to the position of Moff and given control over a small sector in the Outer Rim, which he took a personal hand in the security of.

When orders came via the Emperor's Sentinel Droid's to begin Operation: CINDER Vane did not hesitate, consolidating troops into his fleet and burning the loyal worlds under his watch. With the complete fracture of the Imperial Navy underway the Firrerreo took his forces into Wild Space, eventually coming across a volcanic planet hidden by an unstable nebula orbiting a red hypergiant to which they settled in massive subterranean complexes. Rylus Vane stumbled upon an ancient Sith Tomb and Dark side nexus while excavating, leading to his possession by an Ancient Sith Lord Centurion, Lord Svols. Svols consolidated knowledge of the Force and Dark side that had made their way with his Imperial Remnant around Vane, creating a dark Imperial dictatorship dubbed The Imperium with his avatar as its leader.

Rylus' first encounter with the Brotherhood came in the form of Imperium contact with the Mandalorian Covert led by Zxyl Bes'uliik. After a fierce confrontation in which half of a landing garrison was decimated, the Imperium Sovereign made it his mission to eradicate the Mandalorian threat plaguing him. Fully embracing Svols' teachings, Rylus Vane underwent a transformation from aristocrat to an avatar of the Dark side, currently seeking to build ties for the Imperium so he can eliminate Bes'uliik.
