Introduction

Greetings, Dark Jedi of the Brotherhood.

This course is meant to teach you the history and inner workings of Clan Plagueis, the youngest clan in the Brotherhood. Throughout this course we will go over the clan's history, government, and system, all in as much a shortened form as we can give you. Remember, however, that the most intimate details of Clan Plagueis remain guarded secrets and can only be accessed through the Clan Plagueis library on Kapsina.

History

Though the youngest clan in the Brotherhood, Plagueis already has a full and growing history.

Formation

The history of Clan Plagueis actually goes back farther than 23 ABY, when the clan was created. In truth, it goes all the way back to the time of Clans Exar Kun and Satal Keto, the “parent clans” of Clan Plagueis. After the Exodus, the two clans slowly started to grow weaker and weaker. In the year 23 ABY, they two clans were in a fierce battle with a group of pirates known as the Crimson Tide, and while they came out victorious, their numbers were drastically reduced. So weak were the clans that it seemed as though they would die altogether; the Star Chamber came together and merged the two into one clan: Clan Plagueis. Through the Dictum of Two Skies, members fought for the right to join the new clan until finally it was ready.

At first the clan moved to the Acarr System, the previous home of Clan Exar Kun. Despite its location, the system was uninhabited due to the random ionic solar flares from the sun, as well as the dangerous Acarrian Terragots. Clan Plagueis was able to deal with the flares, and the Terragots were left to themselves. House Satal Keto set up base on Haven, House Exar Kun on Elysian, and Clan Plagueis itself on Byfrost. House Bane set up base on Eden, but was closed after only a year of existence. Its members were transferred to the other houses to make them stronger.

The clan stayed in Acarr for a year, but towards the turning of 24 ABY, the Crimson Tide returned with a vengeance and once again attacked the clan, now hoping to take out the remnants of both their previous enemies at once. To further add to the clan's woe, it had been discovered that Acarr, the star of the system, was greatly unbalanced and nearing supernova status. As the Tide attacked, the Dark Jedi evacuated the system just in time. The pirates, realizing what was happening, attempted to flee as well, but the clan's greatest Force users banded together and trapped the Crimson Tide inside the system as the star exploded, destroying the majority of the Tide's forces.

After surviving the Tide’s attack for a second time, as well as the death of their system, Clan Plagueis moved to the Jusadih System in the Core Worlds, not far from Coruscant. House Exar Kun settled on Aerun, House Satal Keto on Morroth, and the Clan headquarters was placed on Kapsina (pictured). Other planets of the Jusadih system include Shintera and Nintura, the latter once used by Wookiees in an effort to create a second Kashyyyk. It is in this system that the clan currently resides.

Great Jedi War

In 25 ABY, a mere two years after the formation of Clan Plagueis, the Sixth Great Jedi War erupted due to increasing tensions within the Brotherhood. When a clone of Grand Master Jac Cotelin, labeled the “Blue Jac,” emerged and claimed himself to be the true Dark Lord of the Sith, Clan Plagueis sided with his opponent, the Red Jac, and went to war against the treacherous brethren that sided with the Blue Jac. After months of fighting, the true Jac finally emerged, but Clan Plagueis had already been devastated by the conflict.

Then, just as the clan returned to the Jusadih System to start rebuilding, rebels on Aerun attacked Diadem Fortress, the headquarters of House Exar Kun. Aided by rogue members of Clan Naga Sadow, they blasted through a wall and killed countless younglings and staff. Led by an Aerun known as Tib Aaron, as well as a Sith Battlelord, they were able to cause quite a bit of damage to the fortress. In the end, however, the Battlelord was killed, and Tib was hunted down and beheaded. Still, the damage would only add to that of the rest of the Great Jedi War.

Crimson Tide

The Crimson Tide, a large organization of pirates, are the sworn enemies of Clan Plagueis, and the Crimson Tide has put aside all others ventures and replaced them with the single goal of destroying the clan. During the course of its nearly one-hundred year history, the Tide has changed owners and business strategies several times, although it has always stayed within the Crimson Family. During its first encounter with the Dark Jedi Brotherhood, they were contracted to intercept a group of soldiers. At the time they were unaware that they were going to battle against Dark Jedi.

Calliban Crimson, however, the current leader of the Tide, took the job and went after his target. Even after learning that his target was Dark Jedi, he still continued on, unaware of just what he was getting himself into. He waged war against Clan Satal Keto, surprising them and causing a great deal of damage to the already weakened clan. The large force of the Crimson Tide was proving too much for the clan, and they called for help. Clan Exar Kun, despite not being too fond of Satal Keto, came to their aid. Together, they were able to push the pirates out of their space, destroying almost half of the Tide. Still, Calliban survived, and he had managed to cause more than enough damage.

The Tide retreated, regrouping and growing larger than before. Two years later, still under the command of Calliban, they attacked the now Clan Plagueis in the Acarr System. Unaware to them, however, the system's star was going supernova, and as they once again battled the Dark Jedi, Clan Plagueis quickly evacuated the system. By the time Calliban realized his mistake, it was too late for most, though he was able to escape just in time. The rest of his fleet, however, did not escape, and was engulfed by the star.

All but wiped out, Calliban and the few who had escaped with him retreated to a distant planet, thought by some to be Dathomir, but this has not been confirmed. It is believed that they are slowly reforming and planning yet another attack on Clan Plagueis.

Peace and Prosperity

Since the Great Jedi War, Clan Plagueis has managed to remain at peace, trying to stay out of Brotherhood disputes, although they did participate in the Rite of Supremacy: Second Darkness. Slowly, the clan began to rebuild its strength and worked towards becoming an elite clan within the Brotherhood. Their first step was the creation of an elaborate cover for themselves: Sistros Acquisitions and Holdings.

Of special note in the young clan’s history, towards the end of 26 ABY, Consul Sarin became Deputy Grandmaster and then succeeded Jac Cotelin as Grandmaster of the Brotherhood.

Yuuzhan Vong

During the Rite of Supremacy, Clan Plagueis showed its improvement by being awarded the title of Third Clan. As they awaited their award in the Antei System, however, the Yuuzhan Vong attacked. Knowing that their small fleet could not stand up against the might of the Vong, which was tearing through the Dark Council with ease, Consul Aabsdu ordered a retreat. While it took a week, during which time the fleet suffered severe damages, including the loss of the Proconsul’s flagship, ‘Atrum Pars’, Clan Plagueis eventually managed to escape the Antei System.

The Jusadih System, on the other hand, had suffered a far worse fate. It had been known for a long time that the system’s closeness to Coruscant might be a problem, and the suspicions were proven when a small fleet of Yuuzhan Vong invaded. Attacking Aerun, home of House Exar Kun, first, the all but leveled the cities, and destroyed Ash Citadel and Diadem Fortress, within three days.

During the conquering of Aerun, two Dark Jedi, Dismal and Scorpius, were captured by the Vong. Shortly thereafter, however, while over Nintura, Galaphile, Jaden Kyrath, and Anochiir were able to successfully rescue them.

Moving on to Nintura, the Yuuzhan Vong once again ransacked the planet, leveling the cities and ruining its appeal to tourists. The planet took longer to conquer than expected, however, at three days, and it put the Vong Commander, Gravenor Phin, behind schedule.

Quickly making their way to Shintera, they again continued to bombard the planet while most of Clan Plagueis’ forces were in the Antei System attempting to escape their own dilemma. During the attack, however, Shimrra Jamaane informed Gravenor that he was needed elsewhere. Sure that Jusadih was a worthless system, the Vong fleet retreated.

Despite their retreat, however, both Aerun and Nintura were all but obliterated, the forming going through about 20% of the terraforming process. Shintera, too, suffered large casualties and infrastructural damage, although not as much.

The Present

Currently, Clan Plagueis works to rebuild itself from the damages incurred from the Yuuzhan Vong attacks. While the Jusadih System still remains under the clan’s control, three of its five planets have been greatly damaged, and it will hurt not only the clan’s infrastructure but economy. Nonetheless, the clan is confident, and looks forward to the future.

Inner Workings

Though somewhat similar to other clans, the inner workings of Clan Plagueis have their own unique touch. Some information on the key components of the Clan may be found below.

di Plagia

As with all other clans, Clan Plagueis awards those who show extremely dedicated service over long periods of time by granting them the clan title (or clan name). Plagueis members who prove themselves worthy are granted the right to add di Plagia to their name. It is the highest honor within the clan, and all members strive to make it their ultimate goal. Few will ever obtain this honor, but those that do are forever remembered within the history of the clan.

The crest of the di Plagia is pictured to the right.

Lesser Titles

While ‘di Plagia’ is the ultimate title for members of Clan Plagueis, there are three lesser titles that are handed out to those who show themselves as dedicated and worthy members. Typically, these titles give certain rights to the most recent possessor, and then when a new one is chosen the previous ones keep the title, but not the rights.

For Clan Plagueis, the Prodigy of Plagueis is a step below ‘di Plagia’, awarded every month or so to the clan’s most active person. House Satal Keto has the Order of Keto for higher level members, and the Quaestor’s Hand for Journeymen. House Exar Kun has the Exalted Lords of Kun. All titles are for the same thing, although awarded at different levels and for different amounts of activity.

Conclusion

Hopefully, this course has taught you more about Clan Plagueis and how it works. As always, please follow the link to the exam. Please note that you may have to use the Assault on Diadem and Crimson Tide Wiki articles in order to answer some of the questions, but most of them should be included in the notes. Good luck!
