Gades Sophus was a male Hapan from a backwater world of the Hapes Consortium called Reboam. He was born in the same year the Emperor was killed over Endor—not that this meant anything to Gades with all long range and holocomm transmissions in-and-out of the Hapes Cluster blocked by the all-encompassing Transitory Mists. Much like Tatooine, Reboam was a small world with a harsh climate, and was considered isolated even by Hapan standards.
Gades was fortunate enough, or perhaps unfortunate enough given the treatment he received from his parents, to be born Force-sensitive. On the backwater world of Reboam, Anti-Jediism still ran as high as when the original Lorell Raiders were defeated by the Jedi Order millennia ago. Gades's own parents belonged to the Ni'Korish, the anti-Jedi faction that had formed from the views of Queen Mother Ni'Korish. Unwanted by his parents, it came as no surprise when the Hapes Cluster opened its borders to the New Republic and the Jedi Praxeum opened on Yavin 4, that at the first opportunity Gades left to join the New Jedi Order and become a Jedi Knight.
