Erinyes in Combat
This'll mostly be relevant to people who write against Erinyes in ACC battles, but other depictions of her might find this info useful, too. Skip to the last bullet point for a tl;dr.
- Overview: Erinyes is a saberist first and foremost. She's a Marauder in the SWTOR "Melee DPS" sense, and Erin-the-player actually did run a Mara named "Seraine" for a while. As a result, Erinyes-the-DB-character's combat style is focused mainly around hitting stuff with lightsabers; the main difference between her DB combat style and her SWTOR combat style is that the DB character uses a single saber far more often than she uses dual sabers. Even her Force usage is generally directed towards making her better at using lightsabers, instead of doing stuff with the Force on its own terms. She carries a blaster, but mostly as a tribute; she only uses it if she's running low on Force reserves against a ranged attacker or has to hide that she's a Force-user for some reason.
- Combat Aspects: Erinyes' "It's the Thrill of the Fight" Aspect is super-important, because it's one of the best ways for someone to actually beat her. Her enjoyment of fighting is what leads her to do things like using a training-saber phase on her lightsaber or keep fighting when she's tired enough to make mistakes instead of retreating or trying to end a fight quickly.
- Lightsaber Combat (Physical): Attack, attack, attack. Erinyes' core style is Juyo, she's ambidextrous (with the Alternate Wielding Feat, so she effectively doesn't have an off hand), she has a high Athletics even without the Force, and she uses Tràkata heavily. Altogether, it adds up to opponents never really knowing which direction or angle she's going to attack from, because she can easily switch hands or grips at a moment's notice, she's fast enough to duck and circle around people who try to evade her, and Tràkata makes her frustratingly hard to parry when she chooses to use it. For all her skill on the offensive, though, Erinyes is significantly worse at defending herself. Like most Juyo stylists, she doesn't believe in blocking or parrying; she would rather dodge attacks so that she can preserve her momentum. As a result, both her attacks and her defence are very physically strenuous, which forces her to rely on the tactic of beating an opponent down before she exhausts herself.
- Lightsaber Combat (Psychological): Erinyes makes extensive use of Dün Möch, combined with her Zeltron empathy, to mentally unbalance her opponents. She frequently goads her opponents verbally even before a battle starts. When the fighting begins, she follows up her overwhelming assaults (particularly Tràkata-based attacks that bypass her opponents' defences) with pointed remarks about how the blows could easily have killed them if it weren't for her restraint (either via using her lightsaber's training phase or her raw lightsaber skill combined with Elder Battle Haste's accuracy buff).
- Force Powers (Melee Buffs): As mentioned above, Erinyes generally uses her Force powers to make herself better at physical combat; she's a Marauder, not a Sorcerer. Her Precognition is stupid high, mainly to keep anyone from getting the drop on her from range, since it'll inevitably take her time to close the distance to a threat like that (assuming they're not somewhere she can't physically reach). Besides Precognition, the powers she uses most frequently are probably Amplification (with Might) and Battle Haste (in place of using Amplification with Athletics). I don't usually bother using Amplification with Stamina even though Erinyes' lightsaber style causes her to tire quickly, mainly so that her opponents have the option of letting her wear herself out and counter-attacking when she's fatigued.
- Force Powers (Telekinesis): When Erinyes does use the Force on its own terms instead of as a buff to lightsaber combat, Telekinesis is easily the power she favours the most. The way she actually uses Telekinesis mainly involves her doing Kreia-style floating weapon shenanigans with Telekinetic Combat, but she isn't above pulling the more traditional Force Choke or Force Push against an enemy who's better at staying out of range than she is at closing in, or occasionally flinging someone around "puny god"-style out of spite.
- Force Powers (Other): Besides Precognition (including Battlefield Awareness), Amplification (including Battle Haste), and Telekinesis, Erinyes doesn't use Force powers particularly heavily. Barrier and Healing are probably the two next most common ones, though she doesn't particularly like using either, IC because she'd rather dodge damage than try to absorb it and OOC because she's hard enough to kill as it is. Force Lightning and Rage are more notable for the fact that Erinyes doesn't use them (oddly for a Dark Jedi), and as of this writing, she doesn't have any points in Slow or Suppression.
- TL;DR: Lightsabers (mainly offensive, speed demon, gets tired easily), Precognition, Force powers that make lightsabers better, and Telekinesis.
