History
In the years leading up to 14,000 BBY, a grand temple was built on Krayiss II designed to give magicians pure of Sith blood a place to meditate and record their understandings. Over the following 10,000 years the temple became a place spoken of in hushed whispers, a seat of learning for those strongest in the ways of the dark side, where dark experiments could be conducted without restraint. The library associated with the temple grew as time passed, and given the secrets it held, unparalleled elsewhere, the location soon became a place of pilgrimage for those wishing to explore the limits of the dark side.
Perhaps it was experiment gone wrong, perhaps two great Sith Lords fought over control of the library, the exact events are lost in time, but by the year 4,000 BBY the temple and it's library stood empty, swallowed up by the surface of the planet itself, the great obelisk which once towered above the building proper now the only remnant visible from the surface.
While the events which caused the great structure to sink below the planet's surface were lost, one small piece of information filtered through the years. The great temple and the library it housed could be raised once more by one strong enough in the Force, should they perform the correct rituals and rites at the foot of the obelisk.
Both Jedi and Sith have attempted such rituals, meditating, chanting and incanting rites of great power at the obelisk in the hope of being the one great enough to access the treasures withing. Each and every attempt has ended in frustration and failure as the temple shudders, yet holds firm. Those few who have survived the experience report that the Sith spirits guarding the temple are the ones to judge the success of the rites performed, and that the spirit of Jedi Master Jey Sunrider is amongst the three Jedi Masters who guard the temple.
In 34 ABY a One Sith expedition numbering several dozen established a base on Krayiss II. When attempts to access the temple via the obelisk failed, the human Sith Lord leading the expedition, and his Nagai acolyte expanded their base camp to incorporate a small starport to enable longer-term activities on the planet. In the following two years, the Sith Lord and his aspirants explored the desolate planet's surface, locating several artifacts and ancient Sith scrolls hidden within the ruins of ancient settlements. The One Sith hoped that with the information contained within the relics, access to the temple should be possible within the space of a few months.
Geography
Krayiss II is a desolate and pitiless world pocked with rocky badlands, black sand desert wastes, and
mountainous regions. Once home to outposts and small settlements, Krayiss I has become an uncivilized
world littered with ruins and the telltale signs of the cataclysmic event that led to the abandonment of
the world.
Moons
Hakagram
Hakagram, a satellite in near-synchronous rotation with Krayiss II, orbits at 247,000 km. Measuring approximately 3,150km in diameter, Hakagram provides a small amount of reflected light to the surface of Krayiss II during night hours. The moon is completely devoid of life, being exposed directly to the vacuum of space. Studies have so far shown no mineral deposits or other signs of interest.
Nakru
Hakagram and Nakru are twin satellites in near-synchronous rotation with Krayiss II. The moons orbit Krayiss II at a distance of 247,000 km and 249,000 km respectively. During Krayiss II's night cycle, the two moons provide a small amount of illumination on the planet's surface. The moons roughly measure 3,150 km in diameter, are devoid of life, and are completely exposed to vacuum. At present, there are no geological studies of the planet's surface indicating any form of mineral deposits.
Notable Landmarks
Ancient Sith Temple
Located near the planet's equator, the Ancient Sith Library-temple remains entombed in the rocky
surface of Krayiss II. The lone indicator of the temple's existence appears in the form of a narrow
tapering monument with a pyramid-like shape at the top. Covered in Sith runes, the obelisk servers as
the gateway to elevating the library-temple from the planet's surface. Once raised, the library-temple
consists of angled walls, pyramidal towers, and massive wooden doors at the structure's center. The
massive wooden doors are carved with ancient Sith runic scripture and writings and protected by a Sith
spirit and three Jedi Masters.
The interior of the library-temple holds the results of over ten thousand years of Sith experimentation
by Sorcerers. Scrolls, holocrons, and legendary heirlooms litter the halls of the immaculately preserved
facility. Steeped in the Dark Side of the Force, many of the items are tainted with the power of their
originator's soul and possess the capability to consume the will of treasure hunters and Sith alike.
Darth Zash's Outpost
Surrounded by automated defences, and so not yet fully explored, the large fortification that was built under Darth Zash's direction was paritally uncovered in 35 ABY. Providing a hidden base for the Sith Lord, his outpost on Krayiss II operated for over 3600 years independently, controlled by mechanical droids and the automated defence system. Four Fury-class Imperial Interceptors were uncovered by the One Sith's expedition before work was abandoned due to the still functioning automated defences.
One Sith Spaceport
Built in the year 34 ABY, the spaceport close to the equatorial band was erected to help support the One Sith's expedition to unearth the Ancient Sith Temple. Designed to support and aid the expedition team, the spaceport greatly assisted with resupplying the team, and with off-world travel. Providing a base for multiple star fighters and well as a corvette-class ship, the port is itself supported by two FPC 6.7 Anti-aircraft batteries.
