Character History
Destruction Of Hope
I was too young to remember being taken in by the story-teller of my tribe. All that I remember is sung to me during the brief moments my adoptive grandfather had for me. I can recall being taken during a raid, and believed to have been one of their children. The story-teller knew I was not one of them. I was not born a Tuskan Raider, I was no offspring of the Sand People. I was different and the old and wise story-teller knew that. He took me and kept my secret from the chief. He protected me, taught me what it meant to fight with honor, and to survive in the wastes of the Dune Sea. I learned the stories and could recite them word for word by the time I was fourteen. He guided my hand when I began my first bloodrite upon a foe from another Tuskan Tribe I had bested in combat when I was thirteen. That wizened one taught me everything I knew.
Then when I was given a mate, when he had performed the rite of joining he left me. He whom I trusted walked out of my tent, and left me with a female. I unbound her first as is tradition. Then she began to unbind me. Her flesh was soft, grey and supple. My own flesh betrayed me. I looked like the normal human I was born. When my face was exposed and bare she screamed. She howled. My bride fled from me. I was unceremoniously dragged from the tent. I was to be killed. I knew my end had come I could feel the doom lurking over me. I was left naked and dragged to the chief. The hot suns burned at my flesh. I could feel the light scorching my eyes.
I was forced to my knees in front of the chief and he yelled at me and called me a betrayer. I was an imposter and deserved to die. Yet mercy was not in him that day, for he demanded I be clothed and cast into the desert to beg for death from the sands. There standing next to the chief declaring my fate was my mentor, the only family I knew, was the story-teller. He did nothing, he refused to argue my case, and he kept silent. Then my grandfather, as I have come to know him turned his back on me, and I was cast into the sands. My gaderaffi stick was broken, and I was declared broken. My bride, the female I had earned by battle and from the recital of the sacred history called me a betrayer of the People.
