The primary responsibility of the [[Master at Arms]] is to enforce the standards and procedures for requests and changes within the Brotherhood. Among these are requests for promotions, [[medal]]s, transfers, appointments, and removals. The [[Master at Arms]] also carries large responsibilities in ensuring the correct administration of competitions. He approves and watches over competitions, ensuring that there is parity between reward and effort. The [[Master at Arms]] is the first contact for new members of the Brotherhood – even before the [[Headmaster]]. The [[Master-At-Arms]] will also usually retain a small garrison in each [[Clan]] system to protect the [[Dark Council]]'s interests.
