The Paladin Squadron is the X-Wing squadron aboard the Feyl’ya’s Last Stand. It is an active asset of Odan-Urr, and has been involved in conflicts like the retaking of New Tython and in skirmishes during the Eleventh Great Jedi War

Origin

The Paladin Squadron was first gathered in 36 ABY, pertaining to be one of the first squadrons to be assigned to the Star Destroyer: Fey'lya's Last Stand. Originally, the Paladin Squadron was a group of driven individuals in one of the cantinas in Menat Ombo. Each of the leaders, Miko Vest, Arrik Vanis and Bic Corr, were there, among others. To start with, it was not much more than a small New Tython fan club. They would meet every week and discuss various topics about the planet. Topics could include politics, economy, security and even galactic unrest. However, when things heated up with House Odan Urr and the Brotherhood, this group decided that their time would be best spent contributing. They gathered their ships and exchanged them for 12 X-Wings, which were renowned for their dexterity, agility, variable velocity and weapons. This group, which had picked the valiant yet stealthy Paladin as their mascot, fought well . They were assigned as the only X-wing squadron aboard the new Nebula-class Star Destroyer. Their future is hazy, but their commitment is second to none and their skills improve every day. Their new Captain, Seridan Brehevik, is surprised by their skill and decorations. He awaits their next move and relies on them as the constant in the inconstant future.

Equipment

The Paladin Squadron is a quick-fire response squadron which uses T-65 X-Wing Starfighters. These starfighters are maneuverable and have impressive velocity and weapons systems.

The outer shell of each starfighter is composed of a titanium alloy. The propulsion is by four Incom 4L4 fusial thrust engines. Hyperdrive is one Incom GBk-585 hyperdrive unit - Class 1. Armament consists of four Taim & Bak KX9 laser cannons and two Krupx MG7 proton torpedo launchers.

Command Structure

The Paladin Squadron is split into three task forces, which have 4 X wings each. Each task force is represented by the colours of the Squadron: Blue, Gold and Red. The leaders of these task forces were chosen when the squadron was first formed. The leaders then chose their members. Drills and Formations are completed by every pilot, except when they require the smaller task forces.

Role

  • Aerospace Superiority: The Paladins are meant to meet other starfighter squadrons in battle and maintain superiority over them. In such battles, it is expected that the Paladins would cast a swift defeat of the enemy starfighters.
  • Air Support: The Paladins are also meant to be air support. When battles rage on the surface of a planet, it is expected that the Paladins intervene, using their laser cannons and proton torpedos to take out defences such as shield generators, or even attack structures or artillery. In a battle, they could deal enough damage to bring victory for their allies.
  • Escort: the Paladins are also expected to escort supply convoys through hostile environments. They can also act as extra security when a very valuable piece of cargo is being shipped.

Having been surrounded by smugglers, Miko developed a taste of dangerous flying. On one of his higher-risk smuggling missions, Miko was caught by House Odan-Urr and was detained on the Feyl’ya’s Last Stand. He confessed to his crimes, and rather than imprison him, the Jedi thought best to give him a place in the Squadron. In his battles for Odan-Urr, he has proved that piloting skills are very advanced, and he took the natural leadership role in the team, and so was given the place of Blue Leader.
