Carpedies was born on the Zabrak world of Iridonia. Carpedies' grew up with a love of hunting and battle, similar to that of his half-brother Cethgus. As Carpedies grew older his blood-lust increased and he started his career as a hired gun. Upon one of his travels home he discovered that he actually had a sibling, who was at that time involved with the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. Carpedies travelled to find his brother, and in due course joined the ranks of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood.
