The War of Port Kasiya was a conflict that began on the moon Kasiya after aggression tactics by the Arasaka Corporation, the leaders of Port Kasiya.

History

War Precursor

Following the settlement of House Ektrosis in the western district of Holmes within Port Kasiya after overthrowing the ruthless Nightsbane gang, their actions began to gain the attention of the other gangs within the city. Initially, Ektrosis desired to exist alongside the other five districts similarly to how Taldryan itself exists on Chyron with the Imperial Quadrant and the Consortium of Free Merchants. However, Arasaka held a large amount of distrust towards this desire after several incursions were made into the neighboring Arroyo District against the Sixth Street Saints.

Ektrosis Quaestor and Taldryan Admiral Teebu Nyrrire noticed this distrust, and chose to open negotiations with Arasaka to create a treaty that would allow them to co-exist together within Port Kasiya. Teebu returned to the Ostara Temple Complex on Ostara in the Caelus System to work with Proconsul Appius Wright on drafting the treaty agreement.

Upon returning to Ostara, Security Commander Adam S. Masher secretly contacted several members of Ektrosis, Dasha 'Jala' Talus and Aylin Sajark, and voiced his concerns regarding the seriousness that Teebu was trying to convey, and his hesitance in accepting anything he had to say. Eventually they offered him access into some of Taldryan's files regarding the treaty only, as a good-faith measure to show that their Ewok leader was serious about it. Unfortunately for them, this proved to be a mistake as the security breach was very quickly picked up by the Office of Secret Intelligence and forwarded to both Appius and Teebu.

During a meeting at the Ostara Cantina regarding the treaty, Teebu finds out that Dasha was the one who breached into the system. Following the meeting, he presents her with the evidence as Appius arrives at the Cantina furious at the situation. With Appius unaware it was her, Dasha provided Teebu with the files regarding the contact Arasaka had made with her, and those necessary to block access to Taldryan's network from them, and she passes it off as if she managed to isolate the issue herself. Teebu warned her they would be having a conversation later.

Without warning, Warlord Andrelious J. Inahj collapsed onto the floor and Teebu began to feel a small bit strange but quickly recovered. With realization after noticing the Cantina waitress had disappeared, it had been determined that a poison had been slipped into all of their drinks in an attempt to kill them. Luckily, Teebu had ingested a minor amount while the others had not even had a chance to drink yet outside of the arguments over security. Andrelious was quickly taken to the medical bay as Appius ordered the waitress found. Teebu in turn notified his Aedile, Crysania Orainn to inform the House to stand ready as they would be preparing to retaliate and to request representatives from the Taldryan Navy and Taldryan Army, as well as any available clan strategists, to meet him in the Ektrosis War Room.

On his arrival, the situation was found to be grim. A virus had been uploaded into the Taldryan Network which had already begun to breach through the seven firewalls that separated the heart of Taldryan's secrets and strength from Arasaka. Three of the seven had already been breached, and simply disabling the network's connection to the holonet was impossible due to how the virus was built. If they severed the connection, the virus would run free through the network and gain anything it wanted almost immediately.

Ektrosis' and Taldryan's technicians were barely able to stay ahead of the virus and hold it at bay as it continued towards the fourth firewall, Aylin working herself from her quarters as well with her droid to assist in keeping it back as best they could until a solution could be found. Dasha on the other hand sought vengeance against the waitress and begun hunting her, though eventually the waitress moved on her instead. She revealed herself as a Clawdite and engaged Dasha in dagger to dagger combat, Dasha emerging victorious after the Clawdite's blade got lodged on her arm brace while her own blade met its mark through the carotid artery for the deathblow.

Governor Yorinobu opened communications with Appius, which was a surprise to the Proconsul, and requested to begin terms of surrender. Appius agreed on the condition that the assault on the Taldryan network ceased, to which the Governor consceded. To Appius, this was the critical mistake that could have been made as he capitalized on this opening by distracting him while sending a covert message to Dasha to change the access points of the network and cycle the port system, to prevent them from regaining access if they so tried.

Dasha did just that, and in addition created a fake server under the old identifiers that if accessed would send a virus and malware payload straight back to them. To her surprise, they did just that. Seeing the problem solved, Appius terminated the communications. But this was the beginning of the problems. Communications from all over the system came in, as well as emergency communications from the Taldryan base in Port Kasiya that had been under heavy siege by Arasaka and was at risk of falling.

The virus attack had been a distraction, with the external communications being their target the entire time. This infuriated Appius, who immediately prepared the Taldryan Military to respond in kind.
