Please expand this article. This is a vital piece of the DJB history and needs to be as complete as possible. Kaine Mandaala 12:59, 20 December 2006 (Mountain Standard Time)

Year 19 ABY? Wasn't it 3 years ago, which would make it 23 ABY? Karel 13:38, 8 January 2007 (GMT)

  • 1 RL year = 2 DB years. DB "New Years" are on Exodus Day in April and Day of the Fox in November.--Xanos 06:56, 8 January 2007 (Mountain Standard Time)

I'll spend some time working on this myself. -Trev

Exodus Date

I've had a couple new members come to me regarding the date of the Exodus. 18ABY is what the DB Basics course notes states where the wiki states 19ABY. Could we get a proper date and have them match in both areas? --Esca 17:59, 13 January 2014 (MST)

Based on how we've aligned SW time to RL time, the Exodus would be 19 ABY. The reason for this is 2002 was 18 ABY, and we began to double up SW time by changing dates every April and November after the exodus. The split happened in April, thus it started a new year.
I just checked DB History II and it states 19 ABY in the notes, so I believe the Basics exam is in error. I'd bring it to the HMs attention so he can correct it. --Shadow Taldrya 19:21, 13 January 2014 (MST)
Shad's right, the Exodus was 19 ABY, yeah. It was done to kinda tie into the Bastion Accords and stuff. Xanos 05:21, 14 January 2014 (MST)

Title

Should this be moved to "The Exodus"? Just Exodus seems pretty imcomplete --Dismal

  • I personally don't think it's matters much, but if you really want, you can move it. :P -- RevengeX Palpatine 18:36, 9 May 2007 (MDT)

Sources

We have historical records for this event. Why aren't we adding them to this page? We have the List of Grievances and I'm quite sure there's a copy of the official Declaration of Exodus floating around as well.

This page is thin, for being about such an important event. We have the historical records to actually flesh this out and make it reflect the truth... why haven't we? —Preceding unsigned comment added by User:Ood Bnar

The page was originally created just to fill a redlink and was only expanded on by Trev who created some of the fictional backstory of the event. Since then, no one has been interested enough or motivated enough to complete it. However, the source you cite would be a "real life" article used as a basis for an event we've fictionally dubbed "The Exodus". As it is, "The Exodus" is an entirely fictional event, which would mean it requires a fictional historic account similar to how we do character and unit histories. If you believe we should expand on the fictional history of the Exodus, then you (or anyone else interested) should feel free to do so. It is a wiki after all :P However, you (or whoever else) may want to run it by the people in charge. We barely keep record of our current events, so I can't imagine anyone will care too much if someone completes the history for this, but you never know. I don't want to see anyone start working on this just for it to all get erased because there might one day be an "official version" made in the future.
As for a possible "real life" account... given the... well, butthurt of that time, it would be hard to find anyone who could give a true reflection of what took place (and those that could are either retired or semi-retired) that isn't insanely biased. However, you could do like the Wookieepedia does and have a "Behind the scenes" section that briefly overviews the real life events that were the foundation of the fictional Exodus. Something like: This and this happened, so the DB leaders did this, and it resulted in this. Something simple that new members can understand at a glance without all the excess baggage. --Shadow Taldrya (talk) 05:00, 27 July 2014 (EDT)
Yeah, I agree what Shad said about keeping it simple. It's all water under the bridge these days, but... like he says, there's so much baggage if you get into all the politics. Xanos (talk) 10:08, 27 July 2014 (EDT)
