The A/CRV Pyralis was commissioned to serve in the Shadow Academy fleet after the Ninth Great Jedi War, along with the Paladin and the VIN Atrum Vorago. Pyralis serves not only assist the Atrum Vorago in defending the Shadow Academy’s flagship, and Lyspair itself, but also to serve as a secondary flagship should a situation arise in which one is needed. The ship’s commander is the acting Praetor to the Headmaster, currently Taigikori Aybara. While officially the Headmaster holds the authority to take control of the ship himself, this is rarely required, as the ship is only ever used for the protection of the Shadow Academy and its assets.

The ship’s modifications have mainly been focused in adding in a small library, a miniature version of the one on the Paladin. This is to ensure that there are still enough facilities available if the Shadow Academy needs to mobilise as a whole, as it did between the eighth and ninth Great Jedi Wars, without the Paladin becoming overwhelmed. The Pyralis library’s main duty is to further the studies of the equites and elders of the Brotherhood, to prevent its small library from becoming inundated with new recruits.
