The newly acquired VSDII Paladin serves as the Shadow Academy flagship. Commissioned after the Ninth Great Jedi War, following the destruction of the Arcanum, Paladin took the role of the destroyed ship as not just the Academy’s flagship, but also as an asset to the Dark Council Fleet as a whole. Currently the only modification present on the Paladin is a vast library area inserted into the middle of the ship. Should a complete evacuation of Lyspair become necessary once again, the library on the Paladin holds copies of the Academy’s precious works as a precaution, and so the ship can function as the Arcanum had before, as a mobile Shadow Academy. However, to allow for this upgrade, personal quarter spaces had to be drastically reduced in favor of the learning centers necessary for this secondary function.

Command of the ship is under the complete authority of the Headmaster, although these duties may be assumed by the Praetor with confirmed authorization. It is likely that during a time of war, it will be the Headmaster who uses the ship as his personal flagship, forming the centrepiece of the Shadow Academy’s contributions to the Dark Council fleet. During times of peace, however, the ship is left in the hands of Captain Lucpa Maatl, to free the Shadow Academy staff for their other duties. Regardless, when not in the Shadow Academy, most of the staff will be found on the flagship in orbit.

Along with the ship's built-in defenses, it also hosts the Academy's most advanced starfighters, which serve as the first line of defense should Lyspair come under attack:

Starfighters

  • 24x T-65XJ X-wing
  • 5x Lambda-class Shuttle
