These NPC Character Sheet Guidelines outline how NPC Character Sheets are managed in the Dark Brotherhood. This includes conditions by which members will be granted NPC Character Sheets as well as when and in what manner they should be utilized. These guidelines are maintained by the Voice of the Brotherhood and their staff.

Beyond creating a Character Sheet, members of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood are able to purchase additional non-player character slots (NPCs). These NPCs mirror and follow the same guidelines and procedures as the Character Sheets with a few small differences that are detailed in this guideline.

Please note:

  • Members are still free to create and develop any characters they wish as additional non-player characters through user-created wiki articles and stubs.

Additional Character Slot Guidelines and Procedures

In the Dark Jedi Brotherhood’s Fiction System, a member creates a dossier that is then tied to their Main Character. This Main Character is tied not only to the name on a member’s dossier, but to the robes, lightsaber, titles, and earned graphics that can be displayed on it. Every member is allowed to create a Character Sheet for their Main Character, which appears as the “Current Character Sheet” on the Character Sheet Tab of the dossier. Every member is then able to build out their Main Character's Inventory through the 'Possessions System' where they can then create a series of 'Loadouts.'

NPC Guidelines

Members are able to spend their hard-earned credits on various things including weapons, armor, and even ships. Depending on rank, members also have the ability to purchase up to three (3) Additional Character Slots that can be used to create inventories and Character Sheets for Non-Player (Support) Characters.

Alternatively, the first (and only the first) Additional Character Slot can be switched from Non-Player Character mode to Alternative Character mode, which allows members to explore different characters without “losing” their Main Character and the identity connected to it. Alternative Characters give creative freedom to writers that want to take a break from their Main Character.

Please Note:

  • Alternative Characters may be used as the primary character in Fiction or Run-On activity, but it needs to be made explicitly clear on the submission or starting Run-On post that an Alternative Character is to be used instead of a Main Character.. When you plan on using your Alternative Character in any manually staff-created ACC Battle, for example in an ACC Tournament or Bracket, please closely observe and follow the rules of said competition, as the ACC staff needs to explicitly tell the site to use your alternative character prior to starting each battle.
  • In addition, for all intents and purposes, any positions held by a dossier are considered to be held by the Main Character and never by the Alternative Character of that dossier.
  • Society rankings or rewards, such as Feats or Items, may also carry over to a Non-Player Character.
  • All Non-Player Characters are designated as Unaffiliated to any unit, and should adhere to a given unit's restrictions, such as in the case of Path restrictions, if they are to be considered a "member" of that unit.

Additional Character Slot Access

Members of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood are able to purchase their first additional character slot upon reaching the rank of Equite I for a fixed cost of 20,000 credits. This NPC is set and mirrors the member's rank.

Members are able to purchase their second additional character slot upon reaching the rank of Equite III for a fixed cost of 40,000 credits. This NPC is set to two ranks below the member’s rank.

Members are able to purchase their third additional character slot at the rank of Elder I for the fixed cost of 60,000 credits. This NPC is set four ranks below the member’s rank.

Interface

  • Purchase - Allows a member to purchase the slot.
  • Manage - Provides a drop down menu with three or four options depending on the slot:
    • Character Sheet - Opens the Character Creation Tool to build your NPC CS.
    • Loadouts - Allows you to delegate Possessions Inventory to the NPC.
    • Character Details - Where a member can select name, gender, path, and order.
    • Toggle to (Alt/NPC) - First slot only - toggles the slot between Alternative Character and NPC designation

Approval

All NPC Sheets are submitted to the Voice Staff for review and approval. Please see the Character Sheet Approval Guidelines for more information on this process.

Please note:

  • This means that non-existent or Grandfathered Species in the system are not available for NPC characters created through the Additional Character Slots.

Naming

While it is true that names hold great power, they also come with a level of responsibility. All NPC Character Sheets are approved by the Voice of the Brotherhood and mirror the guidelines and policy set forth by the Master at Arms. You can view the policy on names here.

In summary:

  • When creating names for your NPC, please avoid titles such as "Lord", "Grand Admiral", or an existing honorific like "Darth" that is reserved as a reward for the Brotherhood's most decorated members.
  • NPC names must be a first and/or last name. This means that they cannot be a nickname, callsign, or codename. These designations can be covered in Custom Aspects.

Bad Example Good Example
Name: Javay Li of the Guardians of Westholt Name: Javay Li
Custom Aspect Title: Guardian of Westholt

  • To add nicknames, callsigns, or codenames, you can use quotation marks in between the first and last name.
Example: Anakin "Sand Hater" Skywalker

Types of NPCs

NPCs fall into the following categories for organizational purposes.

Training and Education

Character Sheets are created for NPCs that are not considered part of Brotherhood Canon for the purposes of training and educating members on using these Character Sheets. This includes training in the Antei Combat Center as well the Shadow Academy for their respective duties. These NPC Character Sheets will be owned by either the Voice of the Brotherhood or Headmaster and their staffs.

Rite of Supremacy / Great Jedi War

Character Sheets are created for NPCs that are active in the plot of either a Rite of Supremacy or Great Jedi War Vendetta, where they show up in competition prompts and interact with members in works of fiction. These NPC Character Sheets will be owned by the Voice of the Brotherhood and their staff and their persistence beyond the conclusion of a Vendetta at their discretion depending on future plans.

Clan Feud / Sanctioned Competition

Character Sheets are created for NPCs that are active in the plot of either a Clan Feud or Sanctioned Competition Vendetta, where they show up in competition prompts and interact with members in works of fiction. These NPC Character Sheets will be owned by the members on the summits of the Clans for the duration of the events. These NPC Character Sheets will need to be reviewed at the conclusion of the event to become either part of a Clan Storyline (see below) or transferred in ownership to the Voice of the Brotherhood staff to become part of larger future Vendetta activities such as a Rite of Supremacy or Great Jedi War (see above).

Individual Clan Usage

Character Sheets are created for NPCs for Clan usage for two different reasons: Clan Events and Clan Storyline. All NPC Character Sheets intended for use by a Clan must go through an approval process, as described below, before being granted.

Clan Event

Character Sheets are created for NPCs that are active in the plot of a Clan Event, where they show up in the competition prompts and interact with members in works of fiction where an entire Clan is involved, but only a single Clan. Clan Event NPCs exist primarily to help members in writing major characters that take place in only a single event, and are not meant to see substantial fictional development. These NPC Character Sheets will be owned by the members on the summits of the Clans for the duration of the events. The ownership of these NPC Character Sheets will be transferred to the Voice of the Brotherhood and their staff at the conclusion of the events where they can be reviewed to either become part of a Clan Storyline (see below) or otherwise removed at the their discretion.

Clan Storyline

Character Sheets are created for NPCs that are active in the plot and fictional story of a Clan, where they show up in competition prompts and interact with members of the Clan in works of fiction as a major protagonist or antagonist over the course of multiple events and substantial time. Clan Storyline NPCs are meant to develop over time and "respond" to the fictional actions within the units. These NPC characters are meant to be recurring important characters active in shaping a Clan's story. These NPC Character Sheets will be owned and maintained by a member of the summits of the Clans who will be responsible for upkeep of the Character Sheet and corresponding wiki article. Failure to upkeep or utilize an NPC could see that NPC Character Sheet revoked. In general, Clan Storyline NPCs will be under tighter restrictions than Clan Event NPCs.

Requirements

The following required details must be submitted via email to the Voice of the Brotherhood with the Deputy Grand Master and Grand Master on copy as part of the process to get an NPC Character Sheet initially approved.

  • Name, Path, Order, Rank, Species
  • Link to a full wiki article not considered under construction that is created for the character that includes a biography, philosophy, appearance and personality.
  • Relevance to the Clan plot and what role they will play in competitions and interactions with members.
  • Why a member of the Clan cannot fill the fictional role of this NPC.
  • If a Clan has existing NPC Character Sheets already, list them here and the active roles they are playing that require a new addition.
