Vessel Info

An offshoot of the Super Transport series, manufactured by Kuat Drive Yards, the Escort Carrier was designed for the rapid deployment of the TIE Series starfighters. Carrying a compliment of 6 full squadrons, the Escort Carrier mends the flaws in the Imperial Fleet philosophy. Protecting larger Imperial vessels with a veil of starfighters protected larger vessels, such as the Imperial Star Destroyer, prevented the so-called “Trench Run Syndrome”.

Lightly armed, the Escort Carrier was designed to operate with other capital ships near at hand. Its swarms of TIE fighters required little armament on the vessel itself, relying upon an interior or rear position in a fleet to keep the carrier safe from assault from heavily armed vessels.

History

Acquisition

After the reclamation of the Antei system in 25 ABY, all of the Clans of the Dark Brotherhood were given an allowance as a show of gratitude for showing their faith to the Grandmaster. Purchased through the Brotherhood’s many contacts within the corporate world, the Escort Carrier Monarch was purchased along with a sister ship named Subjugator. According to then Consul, Thran Occasus, the acquisition of Escort Carriers was a “necessity for the survival of the Royal Imperial Fleet.”

Commanders

Commanding Officer

Odiss Vran, a Human from Dantooine, was born in 13 BBY. The daughter of a fighter pilot, she was instinctively drawn to space combat. Her father managed to get her assigned to a New Republic Defense Fleet Cruiser in 10 ABY. She spent the next eleven years in the Defense Fleet moving from ship to ship; slowly moving up the ranks. During a space battle in 21 ABY, the Frigate she was aboard was destroyed. She was one of the fortunate few to jettison away in an escape pod. Drifting through space, the pod eventually came to Judecca. Here, Vran joined the Scholae Palatinae Navy. She once again rose steadily through the ranks until she claimed the title of Commanding Officer of the Monarch.

Executive Officer

Like his immediate superior, Pok Arrol felt a natural connection with space. A Zabrak born in 6 BBY aboard a medical frigate, Arrol has spent almost his entire life aboard various vessels. From fighters and bombers, to Star Destroyers and Mon Calamari Cruisers, Arrol claims to have flown aboard every type of craft; many refute his claims as lies and the Zabrak has been caught in many fights due to such a claim. Arrol eventually found his way to the Dark Brotherhood, where he agreed to lend his expertise as an officer in the Scholae Palatinae Fleet. After a few years of service, he was given the role of Executive Officer aboard the Monarch.

Deployment

The Monarch was assigned to Third Flotilla, along with the Indomitable, Repulse, Dominion and the Defender.
