Deep Ice was a Nebulon-B escort frigate that served in the Imperial Navy under the name Vehemence during the Galactic Civil War. The ship was stationed in the Outer Rim during the Battle of Endor and eventually found service in the Emperor's Hammer. Following the Exodus Deep Ice entered the service of the Dark Council. In 30 ABY the ship was given to Independent House Revan and currently serves as their mobile operations platform.

Vessel Info

Construction

Deep Ice was constructed under the name Vehemence in 19 BBY following the conclusion of the Clone Wars. Kuat Drive Yards was awarded a contract to develop a Command Platform that could replace the aging Class-C Frigate and the EF76 design was born. Deep Ice was constructed in obscurity alongside 20 other EF76 platforms assigned to duty in the Outer Rim Territories.

In 30 ABY Independent House Revan commissioned Slayn & Korpil to upgrade and customize Deep Ice to suit Independent House Revan's unique operational methods. Notably among the modifications the ship's primary hull received a matte-black stealth material coating that rendered the ship nearly invisible to the naked eye as well as imparting properties that made detection by normal sensor arrays difficult. The Verpine engineers also installed a transponder code package allowing Deep Ice to rotate and broadcast multiple identities ensuring the ship could operate incognito when necessary.

Action

The initial years in service to the Empire were relatively uneventful with the ship performing its duties faithfully, usually in an escort role or as a light planetary raider. Of particular note was an important escort detail (c. 19 BBY) while Vehemence was operating in the Eriadu system awaiting the arrival of Grand Moff Wilhuf Tarkin to transport him to the then under-construction Death Star. The Grand Moff's shuttle came under attack by Rebel forces but Tarkin was no longer aboard. The assault did manage to free his slave, the Mon Calamari Ackbar, despite fierce resistance by TIE Interceptors launched from Vehemence.

After this, Vehemence continued its duties until after the death of Emperor Palpatine. Afterward, the ship was transferred in the service of the Emperor's Hammer and served in a defensive role as a fleet picket. Eventually the ship settled into protecting Brotherhood assets.

Just prior to the events of the Exodus, The Seven ensured that the Brotherhood fleet had Captains and crews that were loyal to them alone, and thus the ship accompanied the rest of the Brotherhood fleet during the Exodus.

The vessel was redesignated Deep Ice after transfer to House Revan and has since operated in complete secrecy.
