Verdict

  • Guilty of all charges

Sentence

  • Demotion from Krath Priest to Dark Jedi Knight
  • Removal of all Great Jedi War points earned
  • Official Letter of Reprimand

Case Summary

During the Eighth Great Jedi War, the Deputy Grand Master approached the Justicar after GJW submissions from several members had mixed up PIN numbers. The Justicar checked the IP addresses matching those specific PINs and saw that they matched - which is a sign of potential cloning - so he initiated an investigation. This investigation discovered that Ricco had multiple IP matches with four separate Brotherhood members. One of them had registered with the Justicar as having a shared IP with Ricco, but none of the others had. After the investigation, the Chamber of Justice charged Ricco with three counts of cloning. The defendant plead guilty to two counts for the two clones that were Rogue, and plead not guilty for the clone that had been in a clan. A Trial by Justicar was initiated, the Chamber convened to examine all the evidence, and determined that the defendant was guilty. For sentence, the Chamber first removed all GJW points the defendant had scored for his clan, then he was demoted one rank from Krath Priest to Dark Jedi Knight, was given an official letter of reprimand, and six months probation.

Chamber of Justice Communique #020b DB vs Ricco - Justicar's Opinion

The Justicar received the initial complaint from the Deputy Grand Master, who had been informed about the misuse of a PIN for a Great Jedi War submission. This aroused suspicion and the Deputy asked the Chamber to investigate the situation.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the defendant had multiple IP matches with four separate Brotherhood. One of them had registered with the Justicar as having a shared IP with the defendant, but none of the others had. Two of the clones were in the rogues, while one was clanned. The Chamber then moved forward and charged the defendant with three counts of cloning.

The defendant plead guilty to two counts for the two clones that were rogue, and plead not guilty for the clone that had been in a clan. The Chamber determined that the possible sentence would meet the terms of Covenant section 8.03H, so an automatic Trial by Justicar was initiated. The Chamber convened and examined the evidence, which included 39 independent IP matches between the defendant and the clone. The Chamber then determined the defendant was guilty of cloning this member.

The Chamber then moved to the sentencing phase. The defendant had created three clones, and had used one of them to gain Great Jedi War points for his clan. Therefore, all GJW points earned by the clone and by the defendant himself would be removed. In addition, the defendant was demoted to Dark Jedi Knight, received a Letter of Reprimand, and six months probation.

Points of Interest

There wasn't anything of particular interest that originated with this case. However it raised concerns amongst the Brotherhood's leaders that other members may have undiscovered clones and could be using them to gain points for their clans in Brotherhood competitions. This case and 020 DB vs. Ricco led the Justicar to develop the Clone Sweep program to ensure the club was clone-free.
