4th Assault Battalion, or 4/11 was a Combat Aerospace Battalion (CAB) in the service of the Army of the Iron Throne. It was one of four (4) CABs in the 13th Starborne Division and served under IX Legion, cross-attached to Eighth Fleet as part of Joint Task Force Rancor. The battalion provided air mobility for soldiers and equipment, specifically, the All Terrain Tactical Enforcer.

History

The battalion was formed in 27 ABY as part of the Dark Council's military reformation following the Battle of Antei. With countless worlds felled by the Yuuzhan Vong onslaught, the shaken galaxy offered no shortage of fighting beings whose militaries had collapsed and desperately sought survival through employment of their skills.

Organization

The 4th Battalion was organized into four companies including a Headquarters & Headquarters Company (HHC), overseeing battalion administration, and three assault companies. Within each assault company were two lift platoons and one headquarters element. Each platoon consisted of four Low Altitude Assault Transports (LAAT's) divided into two flights of two LAAT's each. Each company's headquarters element typically consisted of one or more LAAT's, or lighter aircraft, commanded by the CO and XO respectively and supported by the First Sergeant.

The companies all had similar capabilities, though were sometimes tasked with special responsibilities within the battalion. Each company was typically commanded by an officer at the rank of Captain (CO) and assisted by an Executive Officer (XO) and First Sergeant (1SG). Platoons were commanded by Platoon Leaders typically at the rank of Lieutenant assisted by a Platoon Sergeant at the rank of Sergeant First-Class and assisted by several Warrant Officers.

The battalion itself was overseen by an officer typically at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel assisted by an Executive Officer and Command Sergeant Major (CSM). Battalion Headquarters and Headquarters Company typically operated a number of LAAT's, among other craft, in order to provide support operations to the battalion elements.
